Weather permitting Alfresco, Dan and I will be out

I have crew for one day, where we want to go offshore so that will be the best weather window.

It's my working weekend, so I will not be fishing, damn shame as the 48hr is the lardy boys fave comp of the year. Hope all who fish have a good weekend, stay safe and tight lines.

I am crewing for Gordon M on Friday evening. Might even be crewing for him on Saturday as well.

Sunday I might have crew from work but will offer Paul R a crew space first.

( although 3 days afloat might be a bit excessive ).

I will be out on Court Jester with John Young (and a couple of guests).

Probably Saturday only as I am on a charter trip on Friday and 3 days in a row is pushing it, even for me!

anyone know if the Lulworth ranges are scheduled to be firing over the coming weekend?

my 2008 leaflet is in the caravan - which is no use at all!

all in a vain hope at my end but I need something to look forward to if a miracle does occur..............and bobbing about in that area for 48 hours looks good to me.

Not sure if these times in the attached link are the same - but would appear to be.

In which case you are OK this weekend.

If they fire a shell at you Duncan then I will know they were not smile.gif

Firing Times ?

I'm pretty sure that they don't fire over the weekends at this time of year.

When I used to take field work trips there.....weekdays were always blocked, weekends were always OK.

Thanks Paul - look familiar.

Alun - 6 weekends a year (outwith school holidays) have firing scheduled but it looks like they have increasingly focused these early / late and it's only the 20th July one that's likely to catch the boaters (autumn may affect use anglers though).

Back's not going forwards so I don't think I will get down though.

Times have changed though. There are published dates as to when the ranges will be open to the public (i.e no firing), but if the Army decides more practice is required then the ranges might be used. All MOD ranges are in use far more often these days- always check!

"Information about the range walks can be obtained from the Range Control Office (0900-1630 hrs Mon-Fri and during the weekends when the ranges walks are closed), Tel: 01929 462721 ext 4819/4859; or from the Guard room at any time, Tel: 01929 462721 ext 4824. "

"Offshore the sea danger area extends up to six nautical miles offshore between Lulworth Cove and St. Aldhelm's (St. Alban's) Head. Vessels are asked to keep out of the area at firing times. Full details can be found in the leaflet The Lulworth Ranges - Information for Mariners 2006"

or even the 2008 guide now!

Coast Guard office on the quay is a good source for these best but they may be out of them by now.

I am happy to convert to a .pdf as a reference document for the site, and request any necessary permissions (although I think it states it can be freely distributed) if that's any use going forwards

Friday's out as I'm picking up my in-laws from the airport and Sunday were at a wedding, so the only chance I have is Saturday and that's not looking good. Hope the weathers kind and that all those taking part have a great weekend.

Shame you cant make it Gordon but somethings take priority sometimes. If you can get for a few hours on sat then would be good to see you out there for a few hours!

I almost get the impression that Dom thinks he can win this comp and wants a big a pot as possible biggrin.gif

If I get out Saturday with Paul Rowcliffe then you can add his name to the pot. However, depends on if I go fishing Sunday and/or what time we fish to on Friday.
