Adam F
The biggest progress so far to date, as on Friday our windows arrived from the excellent Marine Window Fabrications in Essex. Great quality windows. We went for 6mm toughened smoke tinted side and rear windows to cut down glare, and clear front windows in case the boat gets a coding. Thet are a dry fit and clamp from the inside so leave a smooth finish on the outside and are really a joy to fit. Sat eve and all day Sunday and they were done! duncan
smart and functional Adam - nice job. what have you decided about security for the cabin area? you clearly have the option to seal it very effectively - which would require someone to cause significant damage to the boat to get it (still easy with modern cordless powertools of course), a nominal lock or soething inbetween? my question was triggered by the door hinges which appear to be capable of beng unscrewed from the outside (as mine have been twice) btw I might have installed 3 hinges to keep things more firmly alligned and therefore watertight etc looks like it's coming on well though - solid beasts! Adam F
Security? I big dog locked inside the wheelhouse..... I was going to go for 3 hinges, but decided on a pair of bigger ones instead - the door is 1 1/2" thick double laminated foam, so warping shouldnt be an issue. They are screwed in with Stainless clutch head screws, so 'should' be tamper proof to theives. A 5 lever mortice lock will provide the main lock, and I have a seperate cylinder style hi-security lever lock in addition to this. (Nice thing about these is that they are pretty un-intrusive) Finally, we will install an alarm system to the main wheelhouse and all aft hatches. You're right though - if they want to get in they will - all we can do it make it hard as possible and have plenty of deterants.

Bob F
Hi Charlie The rubing strake is spot on. It took a while to clean off but its going to look great on the boat. What's your thoughts on fitting a metal strip inside? Bridge Rubber said it's not needed, but Pete highly recommends that we fit one to stop rippling. If we used bolts at 8 inch centers and used silkoflex to bond it to the hull would that remove the need for the metal inner? If we do need the metal inner, we will need 17m. I assume we would need to order it in one long length (presumably it will coil up for shipping). If it came in shorter lengths I can't see how we would insert each consecutive section and then get it aligned(???). Got to go...cheers BF

great white
As I said the other night I believe they reccomend a strip of ally or hard plastic inside. You may get away with 7mtr lengths down each side, start at the bow and work aft, then another short piece for the transome. It is tricky enough with 3 mtr lengths of fender, so trying to do a single long length would be hard. Call me if I can talk you through ideas.
