Thanks Rob

Very interesting! - we were only doing 20mph on the basic Yam instruments (battery problem wouldnt run the plotter...)

But I was looking at Alfresco and commenting to richard on how 50% of Alfrescos hull length was out of the water (i.e planing) and how I wish we had an extra bit of water line length - at the same speed Alfresco was planing with her bow clear, we

were slamming occaisonally, but it looks more stable than it felt. However it was a great run in, smooth sea.

I wanted to trim the bow down a bit, but there wasnt enought alernator/battery power left to operate the trim tabs..

Paul your instruments are close, We were doing about 19 knots on the plotter.

Offshore told me that if we fitted trim tabs the bow would come down more for a better ride in rougher seas, but so far I am quite happy with the ride biggrin.gif

I hope the barttery snags are sorted and we see you afloat soon.

Adam

I know what you mean... Alfresco was definitely planing at the same speed - with more of the hull out of the water - conditions were so flat - The orkney is not a deep Vee as you said, but because it takes a bit longer to get to a full plane, I have to use the trim tabs a bit to adjust the angle. Although above 20knots - you dont really need them as the engine doesnt have sufficient power to 'porpoise'

ooh er.. biggrin.gif

Nice video of the new boat...
