Bream at Durley Rock

5 of us decided to have a go for the Bream at Poole patch yesterday. The weather forecast wasn't looking too good, with Strong Northerly winds predicted for later in the morning. So a last minute change of plan was made to fish Durley Rock which is only a short distance from shore and sheltered by the cliff.

I got to the launch car park at about 6.15am,the next one to turn up was Lucky Rich who had just come down to take some photo's and meet up with the lads smile.gif(I will let Rich post his photo's later wink.gif ;D )

Shortly after Mark(Coombsyeone),Steve(Maver),Andy(Shnoop) and Milo turned up.We tackled up and made our way down the beach for a very small surf launch,(or so they though ;D.....Lucky Rich's photo's will reveal all wink.gif ) .

Got talking to a guy that had been netting,he said there were lots of Mackerel about and pointed us in the right direction for the bream.

Got out to the mark and a few buoyed off to pot markers and the rest anchored up.I think Milo was first in with a string of Mackerel,

then came a shout from Mark that he had a bream.

I think Mark had at least 12 Bream whilst the rest of us hadn't had much at all.

After about an hour the rest of us decided to have a little move around.I went over towards Mark who had been having non stop action and anchored about 2 feet from him ;D,Maver and Shnoop moved onto different pot buoys.

After 15 minutes I still hadn't had a bite and Mark was still catching,he was getting bites as soon as his lead hit the bottom ohmy.gif

He was using the same set up and bait as me so thought I would try something .I released from my anchor buoy and paddled across to Mark. Then tied up to his front carry handle ;D ;D ;D

.....Droped my bait down and BANG went the rod, straight into a small bream smile.gif

That saved the blank. Then for the next hour it was non stop action with some nice size bream coming in.

Late morning we saw 3 more kayakers in the distance heading our way.I could make out the first Kayak,it was a dark red flame Scupper pro.But I couldn't make out who it was, then they got closer and saw it was Lozz, then could make out a orange Hat smile.gif,Yep Richi ;D but couldn't make out who was on a yellow kayak. It turned out to be Tratty. They had come down to have a go on Poole patch but decided to fish near us as we were catching.

They all buoyed up and Tratty started to catch as he was closest to myself and Mark wink.gif.Lozz and Richi wasn't having much luck so Lozz came over and anchored up close by and Richi did his usual thing when he got bored. He decided to paddle out to Poole patch. We saw him get to all the charter boats in the distance but keep on going ;D ;D,think he must have gone to the outer patch wink.gif ;D

Here are some picks of the lads anchored close to us and Tratty landing a bream/

Mark and Andy decided to up anchor and go for a paddle (Troll some feathers) for the Mackerel whilst the rest of us carried on Bream fishing.

Decided to call it a day about lunch time as I had enough bream for the BBQ and it had gone a bit quiet,So Mark,Shnoop and myself went in leaving Lozz and Tratty on the bream mark smile.gif and Richi somewhere over the horizon ;D ;D.

We had left our cars at the top of the West cliff and planned to bring the cars down to the car park to load up.But it was packed with holiday makers. So it was a long haul up hill with the kayaks ohmy.gif

Really enjoyed the day and was nice to meet Andy and Milo for the first time. Thanks to Steve and Andy for the Mackerel.Just wanted a couple to try out my smoker smile.gif

Finally my catch for the BBQ (4) Returned about 15 to fight another day smile.gif
