Overrun Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Began as another Friday night Smooth Hound foray, sadly the weed which was absolutely horrendous put us very close-in and out of the tide. Last cast of the evening resulted in this: Not a monster, but another fish off the species list. Quote
Bob F Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Excellent catch. And all from a sit-on-top. That must've got the heart thumping as it came over the gunnels. Talk about "at close quarters!!!" Steve Irwin would've been in a panic. Nice one. Bob Quote
Adam F Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 WOW!!! I had one a few years back from the same spot and BOY! did it fight.... Nice one! Quote
Rob Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I note that you have got out the yak as the stinger has got in! Very sensible!!! Well done. Rob Quote
Mike Fox Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 A stunning catch from such a small craft - well done! Mike Quote
Overrun Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 Thanks all, only a 100 yards from the shore (to avoid the weed) so it lay upside down in the foot well while paddling in to unhook and photo, had my leg hanging over the side to be on the safe side! ..and to think there's potentially 50lbers about Quote
great white Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Did you wegh it? They really do pack some weight as they are so thick. Many Many years ago Wendy caught one out of Pompey. It did not have a huge area, but it weighed 34lb well done on catching one they are quite rare Charlie Quote
