Rob Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 I am guessing that it hasn't changed, but in fact the previoulsy posted list was not the official one. Quote
Paul D Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Mike, I have the spreadsheet which will be used to score the fish and it matches that which was posted by Alun J. ( Havent checked against thoise handed oyr So feel free to catch the Cuckoo Wrasse In fact I think I can see how it happened on the one handed out as well. Last 2 fish on my list are Cuckoo Wrasse and Corkwing Wrasse. Both are missing and happen to be outside the "print" area. So missing are :- Wrasse Corkwing 0 8 Wrasse Cuckoo 1 4 Quote
conger king Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 you had better cross off ray thorneback protected species now Quote
Rob Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 With 200 copies of the list printed without Corkwing or Cuckoo and some already handed out, I dont think they should be entered now. There would be a riot if a fish not on some people's official species list won any kind of prize!! And I wouldn't want to be the Fish Recorder \ Official who would need to deal with that + it could well harm the reputation of this comp\club for future years. Rob Quote
oysterboats Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 I hope u guys dnt mind me saying this but i think it would be better nt to have to bring a cuckoo or corkwing back to the scales but thats just my opinion im not slagging anyone coz i think this is a great comp and poole is a worse place without it Quote
petesnr Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Checked Southern Sea Fisheries website and there is no mention of a ban on undulates. that doesnt mean there isnt one but unless these things are publicised properly ther is no way of knowing. if i catch a good one it will be coming in. petesnr Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Have googled undulate ray ban. Cant find definitive answer but there does appear to be a commercial ban in Celtic and North Sea. this is a European directive and may apply to the Channel as well. Dont know how it applies to Recreational sector but the ban is based around the disappearance of undulates in beam trawled landings. Quote
great white Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 I believe we are fishing this to the usual rules Ie any fish that has a recorded specimen weight on what was the NFSA list can be weighed in, [subject to the stated minimum size 50% specimen weight] except the ones noted as banned in the comp rules. The sheet handed out was produced a few years ago as an aid to the anglers fishing NOT as a list of the fish allowed. It has blank spaces to add fish to teh list if required It is down to the competitors and skippers to know the rules, specimen sizes and decide what to bring to the scales. It is a shame to have to weigh in ashore but its an open comp so it can not be run just on trust. I am not on the Sub Committee so this is only how I believe it to be, If Neal or Martin can clarify on here it would help, if not we will ask them in the morning and perhaps others should too. Tight lines Charlie Quote
Maverick Martin Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 All the paperwork has now been printed and some handed out so the competition will be fished to the sheets printed. ie if no specimen size on our sheet for a particular species then it wont be allowed to be weighed in Martin Quote
