Adam F Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 The last few trips on JV have been nothing short of military precision - the last Alderney trip saw us loading 5 trolley loads of kit onboard, the last mid channel trip - buckets of leads, boxes of shads etc, etc..... ..... so the lats few trips have been the opposite. Ive been going with just the miniumum of gear - a handful of leads, a few swivels, a spool of trace line and a few hooks - all fit into a take away container! Went out this afternoon - knocked off work a few hours early with the plan to fish inshore, mianly in the harbour with just a spinning rod and chill for a few hours... Bought 30 (mostly dead! ) rag from Wessex... and must say I caught a fish on nearly every one - but no target species - just small bass, bream and wrasse - but all good fun! Sometimes simple is better.... the KISS principle. A great way to finish a week. Quote
Osprey Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Good point well made Adam! But how long do we remember the lessons we learn? A couple of weeks back, I went on a 40 mile round trip looking for Smoothounds (and failed!) only to find that someone had a 12lber 200 yds from my mooring, and I know I motor over Bass every time I go out! Where will I go next time? Yes, that's right, another 40 miles! (Well, how else can we justify buying expensive boy's toys instead of a rowing boat!) Martyn Quote
