charlieannear Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I'm looking for a piece of teak, about a foot long, about an inch square. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Quote
Coddy Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Hi Charlie Might be worth a call to Sydenhams to see if they have any off cuts Dave Quote
TomBettle Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Have a chat with the guys at Marine Ventures at the entrance to Cobbs Quay. All the Merry Fishers come in with a piece very similar to that wedged up in the patio doors. On a different note, but still pertaining to wood.... Anyone know where I can get up to 2 x 8 planned all round? I need a fair bit to make a large, chunky, farmhouse style dining style table and side benches. Cheers Tom Quote
Adam F Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Surely youre boat buddy Mr Vazey can sort you out? Quote

Rob Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 2 x 8 planned all round Why not buy a round bit to start with! Quote
Mike Fox Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I used to get bits of teak from Howell's at Cobb's Quay. Not sure if they're still there, but he could supply most sizes and shapes. Mike Quote
mw Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 No but might be able to get you a nice table mark w Quote
biggcol Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Try Columbia Timber in Columbia Road Ensbury Park. They stock various hard woods. Colin Quote
Adam F Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) Tom, I can get you 8x2 PAR, but to be honest if youre wanting to make a table, then you'll need joinery grade timber to make a decent job anything else will be liable to twisting and warping. Once you start looking at the cost of the meterial, and the specialist kit you'll need to work it into something that justifies the cost of the timber, I think you'll find that buying one new isnt that expensive after all. Personally I'd look to get a reclaimed / 2nd hand one to get a bit of worn in character. Adam Edited August 4, 2009 by Adam F Quote
duncan Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 KJ Howells at Cobbs would be my starting point for a piece that size as they have all their off-cuts in bins for just such a purpose. I only have Iroko lying around and I am a bit late to the thread to machine up a piece to bring down when we head to Poole tonight.....it's going to cost less than a pint from Howell's and you can pick it up anytime their open.
