As someone who's just about to start trailer boating after always having a pontoon or jetty, I've been looking for tips to make it easier, but I think I should ignore this one!!!!!!

You are right Brian

Top Tip, put the boat in, not the car.

If you are new to it, my advice would be to practice on good slipways without side currents/winds for the first few times. and maybe get someone who does it a lot to come down and show you the ropes.

Just realised the guy obviously hasn't thought of reversing down the slipway to launch ?!?

Perhaps he was trying to get the boat deep enough to float off the trailer ?

It's ok Charlie, when I said I was looking for tips, it was a bit tongue in cheek.

Although I was on a pontoon at Cobbs before getting the use of a private jetty at Wareham, I launched and recovered several times. I used to use the slip at Rockley, which must be about the worst for side currents with all the water going into or out of Lytchett bay.

I intend buying an annual pass for the slip at Cobbs, it's only a couple of miles down the road from me.
