This weekend large tides/calm forecast

Hi All

after our last try on the big tides of the open, I was looking for another option.

This weekends forecast [its a long way off I know] looks good, but the tides are very big. huh.gif

1. Who is going out?

2. What are you going for

3. where are you thinking of going

4. and when?

I had been thinking of going overnight Friday, last light triggers then on to look for sole. but I see that the trawlers are in sad.gifweep.gif

So I suppose the other option is to try our hand at offshore bass marks, drift the wrecks.

with maybe some time at anchor around slack for the rays.

Not spoken with the usual crew yet [or the FPO] but is anyone else thinking of going out?

I will add to this post later if I have a plan and if we have spaces.

PM me if you have info that you want kept a bit more secure.

Weather depending I'll be taking JV out (now shiney, smooth, clean and raring to go!)

I'll be going bassing - depending on weather either East over to the Island, West down to Portland, or staying closer to home.

Youre welcome to tag along.

I'll try for the sole one eve next week.

Hi all

Our usual crew not available, so its Dan and I and a very flexible plan

[yet to be confirmed which day fits in best with Dan's social calander and the weather wink.gif ]

So if we go offshore in daylight for the bassI have space for at least a couple more. .

If you fancy coming with us let me know, if you are an expert bass angler even better, because we are not.

If no takers we may go overnight inshore.

regards

Blimey mate

I hr North at the speed your boat cruises at sounds a long way wink.gif

From talking to my mates that live /lived in Auckland I thought all their trips were short.

when I suggested going accross to the coramandel [excuse spelling] they looked at me as though I was mad, for even considering going that far.

But its horses for courses, If we had great fishing here none of us would steam to Alderney and beyond. tongue.gif

Tight lines, I hope the big snapper are hungry.

Paul D and PJ are now joining us for an evening trip on Sat, so we hope that we find some fish too.

well we got out but it was not that good sorry charlie i ment we drove for an hour and then launched and sailed to tiritiri we caught loads of little snapper but could not find the bigger one's . we fished four different locations and some drifting for a lot of the day there were lots of bait fish on the sounder but no snapper. on the radio the other skippers were saying the water is still to cold and the bigger fish will move in around the end of october the begining of november so not long now but i did catch somethink for the plate a nice john dory 3lb 6 which we ate last night and my mate caught one aswell he's went 2lb 8 and we all so had a kawhai which went 4lb dead on so not to good but we did catch and it was a long day and just three fish to show for it .

Hi Mark

some good fish there mate

when we were there we were impressed at how well teh Kawhai fought on light gear.

But the kiwi only want them for livebait fot kingfish. blink.gif

We were there at Christmas and the locals were still moaning that the water was too cold laugh.gifwink.gif

well the kawhai we had we smoked it with manuka chipping first we rubbed salt on the fillets and then brown sugar left them for half an hour and then smoked for 20 mins they was not that bad but they left a bit of a burnt wood taste in your mouth in the fishing shops here you can buy differant flavoured wood chippings ie jack daniels and beer flavours and many more i will have to give them a try biggrin.gif .
