    Charity outing

I gave a trip in an auction for Julia’s house and Air Ambulance before Covid. After cancelling 3 times due to bad weather November 5th looked good. Hard frost and grit on the marina added to the day as a beautiful sunrise appeared. Two anglers appeared, who even though they insisted they were fishermen it transpired Mackerel trips on family holidays were the extent of there experience. No worries, saw Fisheagle at the bridges, tried to call at various times on 6 but no response throughout the day. Probably catching too many fish😜 The guys wanted to catch Bass, after a fruitless hour+ we gave up trying to get live bait, so headed east where we struggled. Superb weather and the two anglers managed Bass to 56cms 4-5lbs, Tub Gurnard and LSD. Certainly not a red letter day but they were over the moon, incredible amount of baitfish in the water which we could not identify or match. Hooky appeared at the bridges having had a day out. Cobbs had no water so no wash down, funny old world!!!!!

  4. I nearly called you this am, not that I was interested in your outing but you had the bloody bridge up and stopped me going to work. Glad you all had a reasonable day both fish and weather wise. Tony and I are out am tomorrow but looking at the weather suspect we will be back early doors for a Doombar or 1,2,3 or 4

  5. Got to the lighthouse on Bressay and chucked in on the drift. sea state was very good but wind and tide combined to make it a bit swift. Also tide was Ebbing which was not deemed favourite….nevertheless……

  8. So Swindon Paddington , Paddington Edinburgh, meet up with lifelong friend , now captain Andy Powis and offto A.Bardeen and the overnight ferry to Lerwick to meet his twin Sons Jamie and Callum. we have a bit of rough shooting and fishing in mind.. Todaywith the windin the north was an ideal opportunity to get after Cod and Haddock. Fished deep water on the Bressay side of the channel south of Lerwick

  9. Plenty of Tope to around 35lbs with a PB to Mike. Several larger fish lost as we weren't really expecting or geared up for them. A few of the initial runs being several hundred yards and then snap offs or bite offs, initally we suspected a small shark till we got one to the boat. A good selection of Rays across two of the three marks fished with six over 14lbs the largest being a Blonde of17 lbs. The usual Congers, dogs etc. plus one solitary Whiting on out third mark near Tom on Illusion. A really calm day with plenty of Winter sunshine. So much for the Winter Species. Mike may put up a few pictures.

    Friday 5th. Trip.

Well, they were thick on cornwall in sept and mid Oct. Bait touched bottom for 2 seconds and we were hooked up. Mind you, 10 - 1 small to keeper ratio. R

  13. We were finally well into a steady stream of Mackerel from 3m to the bottom say 50 m. I tried to drop beneath them and got a codling. 40 odd mackerel were caught…..not bad size…..water was surprisingly warm..
