Seriously 'though it did look bigger on the Photo,I dont know if it was the closeness of the camera or if I was holding it out,Perhaps both,We were both a little excited at the time.

What an uncanny knack you have of stirring up the...I mean creating a controversy,Although my Zodiac appears to"plane" at a very low speed, but I dont have any way of telling speed whilst useing it..Keep up the good work..jack

I have fished the ledge hundreds of times with my 16' longliner, with my wife most times. The anchoring was always the most worrying, until I had made up,A grapnel type anchor with 4 "spiders leg" type prongs [ in rod about a fountain pen thickness.each prong 18" long ] this held us in the strongest tides and was easy to motor out.It usually semi-straitened one of the prongs, and you just bent it back to shape for the next time.Hope this helps.

Adam's reply about the course fishing style bait dropper [remains attached to your lead during fishing ] is ,spot on. you need to use lots more lead in a big tide, even with braid.
For those of you who saw my "Super rolls Royce" bait dropper,All stainless twinkle,Trap doors and can deliver up to 2lb of berly in one go,but cost

Appreciate your views Sam. I did'nt say at any time that he was encouraging the wave jumpers and I dont know that they were together, although it certainly appeared so.He was however speeding and not taking enough care.I wonder if,with yours and Dads Navy links, you would know where I could get my hands on a small portable Torpedo launcher !!jack

They were all out there on "day release" on Sat. As Andy and I were coming down the Main chanel in the Harbour [about 16.05] we were passed at a good speed,by a cruiser called SEGAL,with no regard for speed limits or the many small craft with youngsters aboard. But it appears he felt he had a reason for this ,as he was supplying a good wake for a small open speed boat containing 4 young adults [one of whom was even wearing a bouyancy aid,}.who were wave jumping zig zagging behind him all the way in .the driver was sat on top of the seat back rest, the chap alongside him, stood on his seat and hanging on to the screen one handed, whilst he punched the air at the occupants of the cruiser, each time they managed to soak themselves under a wave.the two other passengers did look petrified in the back of the boat.I was too,and I was'nt even in it.You can never see a good Harbour patrol when one is needed...Admittedly one Harbourmasters vessel was towing in a speed boat.Others were supervising the car ferry leaving...Also as we slid under the bridge and up toward Cobbs,a rather "Plummy" ladies voice came over the radio..." Who do these Oiks think they are,? Pushing in when others are waiting for the Bridge. They think they can do as they like !! "Made a nice end to a good day out for me !.

Fabulous weather for a day out on Sat. Cool mist at sea. No fish until late afternoon. One fish each for Andy and I. His a piddling little Doggie.[learner !!] My one a Black Bream of 4lb 8 oz.Could not believe it as I thought it would be a strap conger, putting up a good scrap.Bait was a whole californian squid mantle on a size 1 circle hook. His stomach was full of Boiled rice and Bran.Thank you to all "rubby Dubby " users on Sat.We even double checked our previously unused digital scales by weighing all the different sizes of new, shop bought leads on board, just in case they were incorrect...Smiling at last.. Picture to follow if Andy's phone one is Ok,and he finds how to download it. jack

Andy keeps his boat on the rack at Cobbs. He pays annual Harbour dues.and they have inspecters who check for the licence disc.If you havent paid, you get a notice on your boat...

Andy and I left Poole, slid under the Bridge, and stopped at the steps for worm.Disaster, worms all gone by 9'oc.Had to make do with Squid, not too good for our planned activities. However the sea was beautifully calm, and the Sun shone upon us.We headed west, surprised at how few fishing boats were about.Anchored up and found the tide slacked off,so were fishing with 1 & 2 oz.leads.Then for the next 3Hrs we were forced to laze in our directors chairs in the sunshine as we peeled off layer after layer of clothing. Our reveries were interupted only by the need for pots of tea, pork pies; Pasties, and the need to unhook doggie after doggie. [over 30 in all ].My lighter rod baited with a 1/0 and a squid head kept indicating bites and was retrieved each time with the tentacles gone.I thought it might be crabs. Then as we were packing up ,My first rod whacked over and started to click away, leading to the landing of a very handsome thornback [returned with a smile on his face ]. then as I wound in my final bait,I was treated to a wonderful head shaking take, and landed a nice Black Bream, caught on a Squid Head hung on a 4/0 circle hook.I found this hook to have been ideal for the doggies as it cleanly hooked every one in the corner of the mouth where it was easily unhooked. The Bream went back to make lots more. In all nothing to shout about Fishwise, but a "Grand day out".looking foreward to lots more like it...

Tomo. you are quite right about the ability to load our stainless dropper with chopped and cut-up pieces etc. But,being a thicko,it hadn't occurred to me to use it to groundbait for spiecies other than Bream..
Derr, silly or just single tasking ability due to advanced age. thanks jack
