Duncan,
I haven't heard of any being caught in the harbour yet. I would think as soon as your bait gets anywhere near the bottom a crab would have it; this time of the year anyway
Trev,
Just like to say the smoked trout was excellent. Put me down for a couple of pounds for Christmas; same price as tonights
Only joking mate, really tasty though; not too salty like some smoked fish.
Simon
It's the first time either of us have seen one caught on rod and line; We let it go but not before it bit Tony twice whilst weighing and taking the picture
Went out on Marlyn with Tony today. Had a tip off from a local crabber that he was catching a few trigger fish in his pots. Tony, first drop, straight into one; 2lbs 12oz. Caught: bass; gurnard; wrasse; bream; mackerel; pout.
Cheers Rich, sounds like the one I've got my eye on. I really like your idea as it's portable and on my small Orkney something you can easily put on and off would be ideal. Brilliant thread and I think that's the sort of thing that would look really good in 'Fishing in Other Countries Monthly.' oooooops I meant 'Boat Fishing Monthly'
You'll have to excuse the cynicism I just can't help it
Simon.
What size tank is it Rich as I think I know where I can pinch one from? It's not one of those massive ones the crabbers use is it? In height and diametre if you can as I won't have a clue if you say it in litres
Simon.
Mike, you're right. I've never actually seen one either but I know the netters in Poole canoes do get plenty of bass in Holes Bay at certain states of tide.
All said; I don't think it's worth too many boats having a drift up the Little channel for bass. One reason being it's in the nursery area right under the fisheries man's nose
I'm happy to make up the numbers at all the comps. But due to bad luck 90% of the dates fall on days when I'm working. Last year it was the other way around. Perhaps we should all send our work 'Man Plan' sheets into the commitee at the start of the season Wouldn't complicate it any more would it
That really is an impressive boat. If anyone's interested in this sort of boat and enjoys reading there's a book by L.C. Reynolds called; "Motor Gunboat 658" small boat war in the Mediterranean. It gives an incredible insight into what these boats were capable of during the war. In one part of the book it tells you that they changed the engines out every 500 hours; some service.
Really worth reading though,
Simon.
