  1. Well done Paul; that's a cracking fish. I'm starting to get jelous now, stuck at work.
  2. Gary Torbuck Google is a wonderful thing
  3. It sounds like he let you off lightly
  4. Adam, do you think the 4400 would be upto the job? Or should I go for the next one up?
  5. Penn Spinfisher: Clickety click Does anyone have any experience with these reels? I was thinking of the 4400SS for bream and general light fishing. Is it a good deal? Simon.
  6. Charlie, We will be fishing the bream comp. We are leaving at 0900hrs. I'll give one of you a call either on the phone or VHF 06 with the exacty start time. Simon Way Terry Way George Way (jnr) All on board Marlyn.# Simon.
  7. Charlie or Sam; We'll probably fish the bream comp. on Sunday. I'll let you know on Saturday if that's OK. Could you just remind me the hours we are allowed to fish between again as I've forgotten and can't seem to find it anywhere on here; sorry
  8. You're right it does stink the car out but what else can you do? Just wind the windows down I suppose.
  9. Just say, "sorry I won't do it again" you'll probably never get spotted again. The profesional clam fishermen fill 4 to 6 cans at a time and get away wiht it. I don't think they like you leaving the cans in hte back of your vehicle whilst filling either, Simon.
  10. What pic?
  11. Well Crazy; you've caught me. Hook, line and the rest of it
  12. If you do have a problem with Barfleur call her on 14 as she always answer PHC on this channel from one hour away. If she doesn't answer you call PHC and they will definitely get her for you. The same goes for the Condor ferries.
  13. Rule of the Road. I found this book very useful when I first ever started going to sea. It's excellent for learning all the lights and contains all the official rules. You can work your way through it page by page testing yourself as you go. It's was alway a good one to keep on board if any one started quoting rule numbers and annexes etc. over the VHF. Simon.
  14. Not really sure Duncan. My fish had been on for about two minute and felt very heavy but not uncatchably heavy. I'm sure I must have been quite a few metres off of the bottom but the line just started being taken. It was either a large fish or the one I had on had taken me to ground. I had to put my thumb on the spool to slow it and the line parted.
  15. Size shouldn't be an issue unless the vessel in question is 'Constrained by her Draft' or 'Restricted in her ability to manouvre' i.e. in the harbour. When at sea there shouldn't be a problem with large ships obeying hte Rule of the Road even wiht much smaller vessels. Sometimes though, for practicality or reasons of common sense you would not force your right as the 'stand on vessel' when it is obviously easier for you, being a small and easily manouverable vessel, to just nip around the stern of the large vessesl in question. You know what I mean.............. One other important thing is if you are the stand on vessel and you become very close to the vessel who is supposed to be giving way to you on your Port side, you should never alter to Port. You should always alter to Starboard and do a complete circle if necessary; the reason being that the other vessel may alter to starboard at the same time as you're altering to port...........crash
  16. RNLI Saftey. Try this link. I think we've had it on here before. It tells you all the rules for standing on etc. and you can also test yourself. To find the Rule of the Road part you have to enter the site and then click on the downward pointing arrows and pick out the part you want. Simon.
  17. Lovely sunny day out in The Channel on BlissII today; flat calm, red hot , couldn't be better. We had over one hundred eels ready for use but in the end I think only one eel caught, the rest was all caught on shads of various designs. Tally for the day was twelve cod to nine and a half pounds and one pollack of about nine pounds; Six cod to Matt, and three each to me and Tony who both lost a couple of big fish, we're not sure what, but both had our line broken after a big run. Matt also had the pollack. Great day, and a good crack on Bliss as usual, cheers Matty. Simon.
