    If you buy the rod yes, and i will reduce it a bit so the person joins the club!! A deal not to be missed!

    Very generous offer, how much is club membership?

    i have been thinking about getting a SPJ outfit as currently just using a spinning rod and fixed spool on the few occasions i have tried it. I have been stocking up lures for our Cornwall trio this Autumn and am hoping to trail down to Plymouth a few times this year

  2. Do you have a junior section?

    In our club we now have a junior secretary that organises around 4 comps a year on club boats. This is predominantly on their family boats. We charge £5 a child and there is a prize for all at the end. We also arrange charter trips for them, just 4 hours which the club members have subsidised. We're up to around 12 junior members now which considering we have less than 50 senior members isn't bad.

    Sorry to be picky

    Not sure that is correct 15.98lb cannot be 15lb 7oz, as that is less than 15.5

    1 oz = 0.0625lb

    0.98 divided 0.0625 equals 15.68 ounces, add to pounds

    15.98 =  15lb 15oz rounded down

    .75 is a little easier as .75 of a 16 ounce pound is 12 ounces

    4.75 = 4lb 12 oz

    Two Nice fish Lofty

    Charlie

    Read all my post as that calculation was just working out the oz.

    Underneath i had the complete weight.

    Also if over .5 you round up not down lol

  4. When you get a bite are you letting out line as you drift? The method for plaice on the drift is to fish holding the rod with the reel in free spool but your thumb on the spool stopping the line. The instant you feel a bite release your thumb letting out line for around 10 seconds then thumb the spool again and as the line tightens you should feel the weight of a nice spotty on the end.

    Oh and welcome

  5. I have a Vercelli Spyra Fiamma for sale which would easily handle chesil i have used on the Bristol Channel. I actually bought it with chesil in mind but realistically i only fish it a couple of times a year at most as spend most time on the boat or beach in Somerset. Google the rod and read any reports on it, it may be what your after

  6. If you're happy with the fishing where you are then i would save the £1600 for a year and see how the drive is. You may find that at 7 am on a Saturday or Sunday morning the roads are fairly quiet. We regularly travel to hayling from Oxfordshire and the motorways are normally clear in the morning but a bit busier at 5 in the evening
