    Weymouth

had a charter on wild frontier saturday. fished off the back of the shambles on the hook to start and had 4 spurdogs and a couple of dogs. 3 other spurs caught, a strap, lots more dogs and a few macky. spent the afternoon drifting the shambles and we totaled 15 turbot and a couple of blondes. unfortunately only 1 turbo was a taker but a beauty at 16.5lb See Joint Venture out there, did you do any good?
  5. i fish with Glen regularly, top skipper. should be out wrecking with him this Saturday but doesn't look promising. hopefully get our boat out Friday.
  6. are they a commercially registered boat, looks like they are landing a lot of eels.
  7. absolutely spot on. do not let anyone get away with calling unlicensed bass anglers as recreational anglers. by definition if selling their catch they are commercial anglers whether they are registered or not.
  8. nice one Dave. will have to give you a go next time.
  9. Hi dave, do you service reels for non club members and if so which makes?
  10. Come on Eileen, Sorry, but to obvious not to say it. look forward to your fish filled reports

    Peeler Crab

i have fished charters out of langstone for over 25 years and we always used to pick up a pot on the way out stuffed full of hermits. we were certainly getting hermits after 87 but it's probably 10 or more years since we picked any pots up. i was told by a skipper that the commercial whelkers weren't allowed to take the shells back out to sea so the hermits had nothing to live in. don't know if thats true but it would explain the lack of hermits.
  13. Thanks Dave for the original post. My chart arrived today, will be looking at it over the weekend
  14. ok no probs, i'm sure someone will take them of your hands.
  15. do they fit on a rail or gunnel?
  16. Nice one. I'm sure you've made a good choice and will have lots of fun
  17. have a try on WSF. there are a couple of guys that own or have owned them and they speak highly of them. i would of thought that a 60 hp would be ok, my mate runs a 50 hp tohatsu on his predator 165 and that tops out about 26kn cruises very nicely at 20. never having owned one (or a warrior) i think they offer better value than the warrior. they don't hold their value as well but that should be reflected in what you pay for it. Not knocking warriors (the amount sold they must be doing something right) but the new prices for a 17.5ft boat are frightening.
  18. i was in brixham sunday for the pirate festival with the kids. i admired that boat in the marina and thought aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr she looks great. i'll get my coat. seriously though a great looking boat.
  19. if any boat will get one my money would be on Andy's. Never know could be me this summer.
  20. i'd rather not if that's all the same .
  21. i didn't say it doesn't work just don't think it is a good way of removing hooks from fish that you plan to return. great for removing deep hooks from table fish once dispatched but for me a definate no-no for any fish being released.
  22. my experience of "twizzle sticks" seems a little different. they used to be popular on charter boats a long time ago and i would be surprised if many of the fish survived. the way i was shown was to stick a pointed stick down the fishes throat, hold the trace along side the stick then spin the fish round and round until it "came off". basically your just ripping the hook out doing untold damage, all because the fish swim off doesn't mean they survive. never see one used these days, thankfully.

    New Boat

looks great. you must be well chuffed.
  24. good thornie for the area, nice one.
  25. it isn't possible for a "recreational" fisherman to sell his catch for profit. the minute he does this he stops being a rsa and becomes a commercial fisherman, an unlicensed one but a commercial none the less. the commercial sector are trying to put these scumbags in our camp but by definition they can not be rsa. unlicensed fish sellers are worse than commercials and have the potential to do more damage as they are unregulated and not monitored so there catch goes unaccounted for. do not accept responsibility for these tax dodging scum.
