A hillbilly farmer who wanted to get a divorce paid a visit to a lawyer. The lawyer said, 'How can I help you?' The farmer replied, 'I want to get one of them dayvorces.' The lawyer said, 'Do you have any grounds?' The farmer replied, 'Yes, I got 40 acres.' The lawyer said, 'No, No, you don't understand. Do you have a suit? The farmer replied, 'Yes, I got a suit. I wears it to church on Sundays.' The lawyer said, 'No, no, I mean, do you have a case?' The farmer replied, 'No, I ain't got a Case, but I got a John Deere. The lawyer said, 'No, I mean, do you have a grudge?' The farmer replied,'Yes, I got a grudge, that's where I parks the John Deere.' The lawyer said, 'Does your wife beat you up or something?' The farmer replied, 'No, we both get up at 4:30.' By now the lawyer is getting frustrated but tries one last question. The lawyer said, 'Is your wife a nagger?' The farmer said, 'No, she's a little white gal, but our last child was a nagger and that's why I wants a dayvorce.'

Craig... Yeah a pity that.....I tried to raise you on CH6 but to no avail. I noticed that not many fishing boats were out and about on Saturday too.....I was wondering if "they knew something I didn't". Must admit I was again pleasantly surprised by Now or Never.......even though at times the long swell and choppy sides to the swell sometimes "broke" over the bow....she stayed dry and quite a stable platform throughout. Even so ....would have been nice to have a "buddie" close by !! Maybe next time !! JD's must have been out in force this weekend. Well done Dave

Ok...Ok... Just done some research..!! Chinese Proverb springs to mind..... "better to stay silent and let everybody THINK you are stupid......rather than open your mouth and prove it beyond doubt " Der !!!!! Carry on chaps !! Dave

This is a great thread........Forgive me I am a "know nothing " on this subject. Gordon H......"with wind and tide together " how will the drogue help ??......it will be dragged directly downtide while the boat will be blown near enough in the same direction......UNLESS the wind is at an angle to the tide and the drogue is deployed at various locations on the windward side causing the boat to turn slightly, depending on the vectors involved? OR is windblown always the biggest vector in the situations when deploying a drogue. Setting two anchors in slow running water..............does it matter if the rear anchor slips a bit.....just tighten up on the warp...or am I missing it AGAIN ?? Jim it sounds a bit dodgy dropping the rear anchor first then motoring up tide (above it ) to drop the main anchor.........Makes logistic sense but danger of warp in prop scenario........UNLESS motoring at a significant angle to the first drop (ie downwind )..and keeping warp at cockpit cleat until ready to tie off. Hey ....have I answered my own Q's ??? Dave

where you headed Craig? I am out Sat late morning and afternoon.....maybe able to catch up if not miles out to blue yonder an' all. If not .....tight lines !! Dave
-
Nice one Craig and Jackie congratulations on the win and managing to get the 40lber over the gunwhale. I remember how exhausted Gordon was with a similar fish with the tide running. Shame about the camera batteries......moral of story is keep 'em on charge "you never know what's out there" Ha Ha Dave

There's more !! Dave

Would like to add my congrats to all who organised the comp and all those who fished it. I didn't fish unfortunately, but the turnout at the "weigh in" and the friendly atmosphere in the bar at presentation time said it all. Great day....great prizes ....great time had by all.........says a lot about the club and people in it !! Dave

Dan....the UTUBE ref was a goodie....when will I ever learn !! thanks. Alun J .....you gotta deal.....Seeing it on u-tube will not compare to a live demo, and if I take a fish to eat I so like to do it justice ...... Dave

Can anybody tell me a fools proof way of skinning these little beauties?? I caught one of edible size today and made a right pigs ear of skinning it. I was told years ago to dip it in boiling water for two or three minutes before attempting to skin....this would make it easy !! heh heh !! So much for that theory.....or did I just not do it right ??? After much adoooo......did manage to get a mouthful or two......but what a pullava. ALSO......Does anybody have a better recipe??? I baked in a little milk and just added salt and pepper...and lemon juice after cooking.....OK !! but is there a better way ?? Dave

Thanks lads Mine has got the speedo on it too so will not work very well in the boat........the tilt up still leaves it below WL so antifoul is my only option...or red led ?? Dave
