I see this person has a 'P' plate... Clearly not enough lessons/test not hard enough. I guess they don't include basic common sense!

Like others, I put a 5 litres or so of petrol in once before realising, I filled it up with diesel then just ran the car, I could feel the difference but it ran ok, did another diesel top up later. Car ran fine afterwards. Half a tank is a bit much. If I was you I would buy a siphon and some plastic tanks to drain the lot in. What you can't get out won't be a problem. You then have some cans of diesel/ petrol mix.

Nice ones Lofty. Your leg seem to be having a bit of a love in with the Undulate Steve, you want to be careful about that, there's laws about that you know!

A YEAR IN JAIL FOR COLREGS VIOLATION CAUSING THREE DEATHS
Steve S replied to Maverick Martin's topic in In The News
I've posted this before, if I see a boat on heading towards me mentally I'm prepared to take avoiding action by starting the engine and motor forward at an angle to avoid the anchor rope. The lines in the water will just have to take care of themselves. A couple of times I've started the engines just in case. The main point is you must a plan of action in advance ready enact when it happens. Blowing a horn/shouting/radio might work but there is no substitute for taking action by moving yourself to avoid a collision. That's horrific. I thought I was close to having my anchor snagged by trawl gear, while cod fishing at the car park a few years ago. I was hovering over the rope with a knife with my sister looking at me in a very bemused fashion. Happily the danger passed by and I could carry on blanking. -

Hope to do a short trip Saturday too. If last weeks trip is anything to go by I'm setting my expectations very low.

I went fishing on Sunday with Diane for a change! The forecasts for Sunday were all over the place, the Met office giving it Moderate to Rough!! F3 to F5, some others wind getting up midday before settling again, others little wind all day, which it what it turned out to be. I checked the live reading saying 6 knots and thought I'd give it go on the basis we could always turn back. Hardly any boats to be seen of any type, except Red Osprey (Red Funnel Southampton to Cowes Ferry) heading down to the Needles around 16:30 and then out out into the open sea, it's now apparently in Falmouth!!! Any idea why? There was very little wind and a very small tide but there was a fair old swell 0.8m 12 secs, the fishing was frankly poor, I managed some whiting, only one of a good eating size. The livebait size ones were put to use but I had no takers for them and they were all returned to grow bigger. And that gentlemen was about it, Diane spent her time watching TV as reading in the swell was making her queasy. It's probably my last trip before the boat goes on the hard.

So sad to hear that, RIP Dave.

I've heard similar advice Jerry, I think it's a load of old tosh, better to antifoul from the off, then the paint should grip on the leg (abraded) better.

93rd time lucky!

Asking for trouble with a name like that! Dan Bran pontoon.

Think might be called the thumb knot.

I think that means they are considering banning/restricting them along with a whole load of other stuff. banning/restricting will be a whole lot easier politically if there are none UK owned.

The catch report viewer does not yet allow 2021 as a date.

Happy New Year but what we want to know is it going to be a goer for Alderney and if so when! I wish I had the answers. For those that aren't aware currently to land on Alderney or Guernsey (not Jersey) requires going into 14 day quarantine, hardly conducive to a 4 day fishing trip! I can't say I blame them but it doesn't do much for their economy. I'm going to assume as some point this year travel to Alderney without quarantine will be permissible. No point suggesting suitable dates at the point, however, it would be good to get an idea how many are wanting to go. I'm hoping to take Tigerfish over in May, or any month after that over a neap tide up till August once quarantine requirements are dropped, anyone else?

Species and Specimen Comp for PBSBAC 24th + 25th October
Steve S replied to jerry.shutter's topic in Competition Talk
Jerry, what's the situation with the comp: on, off or yet to pronounce? -
Lots of conger in the car park, with pout and the odd small whiting, it kept me busy. Finished off with a decent bass but all lost 2 good ones just shy of the net. Great to be out on such a lovely day.

Ok Stuie, you have a good time now. I'm planning to give the Car Park a go, the water is going to be fairly cloudy, may be a struggle for sight feeders. The forecast is for a swell of around 1m at 13 seconds. If anyone is around out there give us a shout.
