  1. Hey any you blokes no how to fit a mast sail and keel to a wilson Flyer 17ft with this changing climate might be the right way to go, good fuel saving too! No, oh well just a thought eh! oh' i'm probably going to have to extend the bunks upwards on my trailer to allow for the keel
  2. I recon you lot are going to clear Mark at Alderney angling out, it's vat freeeeeee! that's a lovely word
  3. I'll check em out , ive got a feeling it's those aliminumun reels well at least they fall into my shiny criteria eh
  4. ooh' this subject is getting more and more interesting thanks Nige and where does 5.2:1 leave me, if memory serves the TLD is lower geared so Daiwa ?
  5. Thanks Adam i already have a 12/20 kenzaki but there is not a lot of difference slightly stiffer on the tip but not much, however i will check out the others you mention and i assume 30lbs tc is not ideal? I think it's always going to be a challenge to rod makers to produce a blank that covers every eventuality but i will see whats about, it's a heads up for anyone about to do a bit of jigging to avoid loosing any takes especialy when there isnt so much tide thanks again for the advice. oh' and i'm affraid fishing is my guilty pleasure so Budget! what's that? if it's shinny it's miiiiiiiiiiiine
  6. Just wondered if anyone can recomend a good rod for working a lure whilst wreck fishing At the moment i have an 8ft6" Shimano Speedmaster supplied by Weymouth Angling complete with the tekota 500Lc multiplier which is great I like using the longer rod and it has a great foregrip and nice long butt, however i have found it to be a tiny bit soft on the tip and missed a few good takes i believe because i'm not setting the hook properly I checked the sharpness of my hook and it was fine. The test curve of my shimano is 12/20lbs would there be a benifit from going 30lb class any advice always appreciated cheers Rob.
  7. Glory Be, Rob and Shaun.

  10. Hi guys was just wondering if anyone knows where i can have my IMAX jacket repaired. Unfortunately my sister bless her cottons, threw my jacket in the cabin where it landed on a hot,not lit thankfully stove . unfortunately nobody noticed until we could smell something melting!!! It has melted the lower rear pannel and the fleece linner. This jacket was a hundred quid and was in new condition so am trying to get repaired, if anyone knows off anywhere or anyone who can repair i would be greatfull, thanks, Rob.
  11. Well we finally did it after weeks of messing around and many let downs and several people giving it a go, Bob has got this thing up and running. I have to say I'm really chuffed, and what an absolutely smashing chap he is, thanks mate your a gem. I can get out there and start enjoying it now. We could have done without the flipping nor east wind and the rain to add to matters it's not easy playing around with telephone sized wires, when you can't feel your fingers or much else for that matter. And this marine disconnect plug although just the job, nice quality waterproof etc, was a royal pain and took both our ingenuity to figure out, or more accurately suck it and see technology but we got there in the end and the jobs a good'n , and an excellent safety system too. So to summarize done the N.M.E.A cable, sorted the TM triducer ran every thing up all ok even planed the wiring for the gauges which is another job, a great day on a crap day if you know what I mean, anyhow once again thanks Bob a successful finish to an ongoing problem, cheers mate.
  12. Thanks for reply info as follows, standard horizon CP300i combi, and STANDARD HORIZON GX 1500E VHF radio. The cable that has got me scratching my head is the NMEA cable. The problem also with this cable is SH don't supply the radio with a disconnect plug? and i need to remove unit from the boat. The power cable has a disconnect plug but not the NMEA cable. So, i have gone to the trouble of buying a propper jobby plug
  13. Can't help monday but would like to make the trip myself in the near future, so feel free to ask , but probably have to launch from portland ,cheers,Rob.
  14. Hi guys, can anyone advise where i can get a marine electrician to connect up my gps and radio. I bought this lot from MES and they said they would help if i got stuck installing , but after not returning my calls and not really showing an interest ive got the message. Anyhow i have done most of it there are only a few connections to make (NMEA cable) install chart card position tm transducer , run it all up and test. I'M new to fishing/boating which is why i am struggling a bit and were going through april at a rate of nots ,no pun, and i'm pretty keen to get out there and use it .So any contacts would be appreciated ive got to the point if i don't pay someone its not going to get done, thanks,Rob.
  15. aren't the bunks mean't to be under the boat? hate to think what its resting on! and that ship in the back ground looks too short!! perhaps he needs to sort his galvanic isolation out,a few more annodes maybe?
  16. Thanks chaps, at least i think im thinking what your thinking,i think no seriously all good stuff, and Duncan i know what you mean about the weight this was one of my main concerns. I notice some of these 4 strokes are quite heavy for a little engine, 28kg just over a new type bag of cement, for a 6hp. Its no good my mate is going to have to pack in the cakes for a while, ooops i hope he's not loged on,thanks all,Rob.
  17. Can any one advise what size aux outboard one would require for a 17ft wilson flyer. I'm thinking 8hp two stroke yammy but it seems they are rocking horse s...t used, so might be a four stroke used, but they aint cheap i have noticed.Any ideas always appreciated, thanks,Rob.

  21. I know exactly what you mean martin i have just done the same with my wilson flyer. I have got a 70hp yamaha which i bought second hand and its like brand new.But when i had it serviced at BHG marine ,they said the prop wasn't right for my boat.My first thought was they are probably trying to sell me a new prop, and at
