  1. Going back to work tomorrow Graham........for a rest 3 days fishing and only one day at work has worn me out, mind I love to do it full time I can't stress it enough .... But it was an unbelievable fight my arms and shoulders are still aching of which has only been matched last year when I caught 12 conger in about two hours
  2. Charlie glad I made you're day so complete Jamie sent pics...thanks mate Stephen was that you that appeared at my bow, anchor dragged?
  3. Paul don't think words can express what is now becoming a regular effing pain in the arse. Wish I had an answer to how we could all combat-ter these scum
  4. As posted else where I took today off for a bit of cod fishing, crew was Neil from the fishing lodge. Neil does suffer from sea sickness so he was tablet upped and fed ginger biscuits but only went on the provision that if he did start to suffer then home we would go!So I didn't know if this trip would even last 30 minutes I took it steady against the easterly at 12 knts and got to the carpark eventually and dropped the hook closer to the island than I normally do as it was flatter After about 90 mins nod nod and a nice twenty pounder to me Neil kept the pout and dogs busy on squid while my main bait was cuttle About an hour later while using 2lb of lead I had another stonking bite knocked reel into free spool and it shot off like a tope run. It was hell of a scrap for ten or fifteen minutes and eventually surfaced with two other lines and two pound weights with it It just fitted in the net and Neil and me had to lift it in and then we both stood and looked at it..............it was friggin massive Tried to weigh on boat and it was going between 28 and 32. Four hours later on land 30lb 4oz Megga pleased. Nige Ps I can't post piccies "old fart and knackered" so if anybody else is able I can email them via phone
  5. With all the reports of lots of big cod coming from the carpark yesterday im going to give it a go tomorrow. After two days fishing Ive been back to work half a day and its over-rated this work thing so with the slightest of windows in the wind and a rubbish forecast for w/e Im out again tomorrow. I will post however I do Nige
  6. Comp today ,plan was not to fish where we did yesterday so we pushed straight out to Dolphin bank. And it was well rough but we stuck it out in the hope of a conger or large cod.Dogs, pout and whiting then I managed my first cod of the winter @7lb12oz but that was it and conditions were really knocking the hell out of us and conditions were looking worse .So after only an hour and a half or so we up anchored and made our way back inshore against the surf at 7knts with every wave going over the cabin. The rest of the day inshore was slow ,dogs on southbourne rough two small tubs close to beach and a dab on mackerel slither and white rag which was a bonus as number 46 species on Wishin this year. A big thanks to Rob and Charlie A on running comp and well done to Steve for winning and Dave his skipper on White Magic and to the sponsors Nige
  7. No two blondes to hold me rod
  8. WTF?
  9. Excellent report!well done
  10. With these northerlies thought I'd go and have a look with Chris my crew for tomorrow, conditions were very good inshore infact flat and just a little bumpy out further. Went out about 6 mile into Poole bay where it was lumpy but not bad at all but wasn't worth the effort with only dogs and a trawler working the bay from the 50/50s to Dolphin sands So we went in tried Southbourne rough.....nothing so in further to Boscombe pier ,lots of small fry showing....sprats ?but we only had some pin whiting and another trawler working between the piers Really don't know what to go for tomorrow now but at least we are fishing Nige Poole Harbour could produce the winner........a flatty? Good luck to all and be safe

  12. Toby as Mike will confirm ,I have trouble remembering where we caught them Let alone water temp. All I know is that it was a lot colder so we might get a longer season at them? With this climate change every year is different now.

  14. All the best Steve ,have a good day Nige
  15. A last minute assessment and Mike (kissmyassmrbass) And I decided to give it a go,so a lazy start and out we went,a bit lumpy but not to bad for this old pair of sea dogs Got the hook to stay on second attempt ,and we started with a few of Coddy's mates.....dogs then as tide started to drop big pout up to about 2lb I then had the nod nod bite leave to develop and up comes THE FIRST OF THREE......................Co ..ngers All of a good size up to 35lb which I don't mind,it may not be a cod but these boys really gave me a good fight. When tide changed the bites stopped so in early just after lunch. Glad we gave it a go as I was getting cabin fever Nige

    Trying to find info

Found it 2nd page of south coast Illegal netter, xchurch harbour. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A mate of mine was bird watching with a couple of pals at xchurch harbour yesterday aft.Scanning all over the place for birds with their bins.On the other side of the harbour, about 700metres,he spots someone fishing. So he kept looking over to see if he was catching anything.Ater a while he noticed the "angler" wading around in the shallows. He could'nt work out what he was upto for a while then the penny dropped. He'd set a net,in my mate's estimation about 30yrds long. They watched him pull the net into the bank, with what looked like some nice mullet&Bass in it.At this point the phones came out! It did'nt take long for the local baliffes to turn up&shortly afterwoods an envirement agency landrover.Well he must've been getting quiet abusive by now as two police cars then showed up.Not quiet sure what happened after that. But my mates pal got a phone call this morning saying they were going to prosecute him&he was a known local commercial fisherman.Apperently he had some big mullet&some nice Bass hidden nearby.I've seen a few of the photos my mate took with his long lens&what i can't understand is why he's wearing a bright dayglo jacket in broad daylight in a busy harbour.Obviously not playing with a full deck of cards. It just goes to show it's worth knowing the right telephone numbers to call should you see this sort of thing going on&it's worth it.Hopefully this spanner will get a hefty fine for his trouble.
