    PC Planner

What make/model is your plotter? Generally, you need to store waypoints/routes, etc in the format that the plotter can read. I believe that planner has this facility John
  6. in my lockup for a long time, but serviced just before it was incarcerated. Too heavy for me to lift on and off my dinghy, (so I now have 2.5hp 2 stroke)

  12. Following a long saga of trying to make the chain work with my windlass when it is apparently the wrong size, it is now available free. 30 metres of ROUGHLY 6mm chain (may be 1/4 inch), suitable for hand anchoring, can be cut into shorter lengths. 10 m weighs about 8Kg, which would balance a 7.5kg anchor in an alderney ring. Chain is on my boat in Cobbs atm, so PM me if interested. John

    Welcome to the club john
  14. I want to add my thanks to everyone for supporting me and my bad back, and specifically to Dave for doing ALL of the work around the boat, and for helping me in and out of the water taxi, putting up with my moaning with good grace. Also thanks to Charlie for the excellent fishing tips. and to Tony for medical advice which helped to keep me going. An amazing trip for me, I have learned a lot about the boat and about me, I now know that the boat can be trusted even when conditions are very bad, such as in the Swinge, when waves came up over the wheelhouse and rearranged all of the contents of the boat, even filling Dave's closed tackle box with water. Great fun fishing new ground, learned how to judge a drift correctly (to my own amazement). Found out that it is almost impossible to get in and out of a dinghy with a bad back, but I know that I will always remember this trip, even if I go back lots of times more. John

    Wishin update

do NOT remove tghe thermostat. Leads to overcooling of engine, longer warm-up, causes condensation in lubrication system, buildup of acids in lubricating oil. Not a good thing in general John

  22. Following Rob's note, I have added the Fox Extra Long Side Cutters to Rosie One's tool kit. Got them from Christchurch today. Hope that I never need them John
  23. Thanks for the suggestion, charlie, but my screen is Perspex, and rainex causes micro-cracking in plastics, which fogs up the screen permanently. I WILL solve the wiper issue in time John
  24. nice one, Nigel John
  25. Went out for a few hours from lunchtime, just to outer Poole Patch, smooth going out, had to remember that the 10 knot limit was back in force. Seems to take forever to get to the chain ferry. Very pleasant afternoon fishing, two rods, one with half a (frozen) mackerel in vague hope of something big, other super light with a string of worm baited hokai ( size 8). End result was two pollack, similar size, larger one just a shade over two pounds, both returned. Mackerel bait mashed but probably crabs. No bites. Slower return for the 4:30 bridge lift, lots of spray over the windscreen, wind against tide, and Rosie One has no wipers (or anywhere to fit them). Back on the pontoon, cleaning up the boat and tackle, succeeded in putting one of the nice, new season, extra sharp hokais through the back of my knee, just where I could not see it properly. Didn't even feel it at first, until I found that I was trapped at the stern of the boat. Luckily a nearby boat owner came to my rescue and cut the trace, so freeing me. Spent five hours in the A&E in Poole hospital before the five minute procedure to remove the hook, giving me two holes in leg instead of one. All in all, an interesting day John
