During the past week I have spent 1-2 hours breaming at ballards on two occasions with poor results. It was fishing well up to mid June and has fallen right off. you may get better results for bream just off dancing ledge. good luck ! let us know if you find them

Well done to all above who managed to catch half decent fish . I fished Friday evening and Saturday for targeted species which I thought would give me a chance in the comp but every thing seemed to be mini sized and included garfish, gurnard, bass, bream and mackeral. nothing to record from Dream Drifter

Took charge last November of a New Quicksilver 640 bought at Southampton boat show. Had the new Mercury 125 Optimax engine fitted. Have learnt alot since buying the boat and could have researched more knowing what I know now. Will share knowledge and answer questions.

Sorry about the late reply. Myself and crew decided to try the back of Christchurch ledge in search of one of those big ones that I hear so much about. Sunday the day of the comp was the following day after party nite, family 60th and so we had a late start with hangovers . Eventually found a mark that I was happy with and a few fish started to bite as did the wind, Sally, the wife pulled up the first fish and it looked bigger than it was, I think Ive heard that saying before from her !! 1lb 8oz, seconds later my turn with a 1lb 4 oz. After only 30 minutes fishing I had to head back to Cobbs due to the weather with these two samples.

Well after an eventful start to the day, leaving the bait in the car ..... we eventually passed Stuie and crew in Sea Dream on the patch and headed out to Christchurch. It wasn't long before the knocks started, a few small pollock, a couple of mackeral and then Sally bought in a Bream which she successfully bought on board weighing we belivered to be over 2lb. Followed shortly after by Alfie, another male but slightly smaller The fishing came to an abrupt end due to the change of weather and sea conditions, so we pulled up and headed home. We weighed the fish on the gauge which read 2lb but when we got home we put them on kitchen scales Sally's bream 1lb 8oz, Alfies bream 1lb 4oz. Hope everyone from Alderney had a safe trip listening on the radio it sounded as if it was slow going on the return. Our non member today enjoyed his day apart from feeling and looking very green . All in all a good day apart from Sally being able to rib me all week until next time, the sooner the better Regards Alfie

Set out from cobbs just after 8am with one crew [ the wife ]. All rods assembled prior to the plaice event thanks to the practice day on the Saturday where after a 5 hour session I blanked. As soon as I entered the swash area the wife set up the first drift while I threaded the large rag onto the hooks, This was my job as the wife had left her gloves at home and she refused to touch them unless she could cut the heads off Four rods all single hooks over the side with 2 oz lead....."wait for it" said the wife she had a feelin of luck.........1.30pm and the only feelin she had was myself rubbing sun lotion into her back. we moved location and attempted to catch anything off the back of old harry, nothing not even a nibble and so back to the swash area. Set up a drift close to the hook sands and close to 3pm felt the nibble and hooked the first red spot cleanly in the side of the mouth, not big weighing in at 22 ounces, measured and photographed just to remind the wife who had caught the only fish of the day so far. Continued with the drift over lumpy ground and when checking the condition of the bait I had a second red spot, 15 oz ......Now I did not admit to the wife that I never felt this one and gave her clear instructions on what so was doing wrong, her face told it all At 5 pm we called it a day and headed back to clean the boat off where I constantly reminded her who had caught and who had not !!!!!

Heading off to the shambles myself friday with crew of 2, will watch out for you. Any others making the trip? For those of you who have to work please don't think of us in the sun, sat on good tides sharing jovialities bring on the red spots.

Hi Old Angler, glad to find your posts. See you soon Alf & Sally

I was also out from Poole just yonder of the "plenty of spaces" car park. Lumpy it was with the only result being a couple of whiting of 3.5 Lb Moved inshore to calmer waters where the doggies were waiting for a late tea of Squid. Still the sun was out and I didn'thave to watch the Sunday long version of Eastenders

Hi John, I am also at cobbs and have ventured out and about since March down as far as the I.O.W. This Saturday the weather is reasonable [xc weather.com ] and may the the last opportunity to get out on a reasonable tide / swell. I understand where you are comming from asking for company of a more experienced crew and that is sensible. If you get stuck with any concerns just give me a call 01985 213722 and I will try to help. enjoy your playdays and will no doubt meet in the near future.

Charlie, I have just been told my buddy can not make saturday so if you have need of one more to make up your numbers call me 07962157825. Cheers Alf

John / dave, I am hoping to get out of Cobbs this weekend in my boat. Like you john I am not familiar with winter marks / hazzard area's or area's to avoid. If you are going out on a knowledge trip can I shadow you or just chat prior to you leaving. experience is building up and have enjoyed summer marks as suggested on our site, but fancy a day ray / cod fishing. I can make most days next week and have a space on my boat.

Hi Derek, I am a Cobbs man whose boat engines are waiting a service. I am off tomorrow [friday] and Saturday if you still want a crewing buddy. 01985 213722. Will try your mob tomorrow morning as it's a bit late at the moment.
