  1. And I thought haddock were plentiful around these parts! The fishmongers in Ashley cross are always advertising "local " haddock
  2. Having never caught tuna despite a fair bit of trying out in Oz, what's the chances of landing a fish like that on 12-20lb class gear which is about the heaviest I ever fish? What a cracker! Jason.

    Topsoil?

Have you tried freecycle? There is quite often people offering topsoil on there and I reckon it would be worth a wanted ad if there are no offers right now. Jason
  7. 2 people at work have the n8 and whilst they both say its a great phone, they also say they wish they had chosen an android phone or the iPhone as they are very jealous of the apps.

  20. Hi, all. After being a forum member for about a year now and already had some great advice etc from some of you, I have now joined the ranks as a full member courtesy of my eldest son (Birthday present) For those who dont know, our boat is The Lazy Wench, a Shetland 535 which we have owned for around a year and enjoy immensely. Am looking forward to putting faces to names, getting to know you all and hopefully learning a whole lot more. Glad to be on board properly, tight lines Jason
  21. Am planning to be out on the patch. Taking my eldest boy out for his birthday present and hoping for some fish!
  22. Both Engines looked to be up when we came back in yesterday evening. Will be down there again on Thurs (weather permitting) and will have a quick check on the way past if you would like?
  23. Thanks Charlie the length is the easy bit ;-) Have emailed a company that manufacture steering cables to order, including their own version of all teleflex stuff. Will hopefully get a price next week after the bank holidays. Further research tells me that its possible to use the Safe-T cables on a D290 with an adapter too. Works out a little cheaper than the D290 cable on its own too and is rated to 150hp. Will let you all know what I find! Will also be joining the club proper soon
  24. Hi all, time to replace the steering cable on the Wench, I have managed to identify the helm as an old Morse Command D290 but am finding the cables are ***** expensive! We have an old mariner 20 that does not use tilt tube steering and am wondering if the Teleflex up to 55hp systems might be a suitable replacement as they are cheaper than the cable for the old helm! Will it be OK seeing as the steering cable pretty much just bolts on to the front of the engine? Are the forces likely to be greater than using tilt tube steering? Link below to the considered system. Link
