Mal Thomas got a reaction from Bassdaze in November Cod Comp
The weather has forced us to Cancel the cod comp. I do not think I have heard of a cod being caught yet in open waters, so we may not be missing much in the way of catching Cod. Are the Cod going to turn up at all this year? Some Charter skippers are starting to search for species other than Cod to fill their days at Sea.
Neal will try to rearrange our Cod Comp.

Neal and I have the same ambitions tomorrow, so we will probably meet you at the 07.30 bridge lifts. Will be on ch6 once out of the harbour. Will be on ch14 through the harbour due to Commercial traffic and expected poor visibility

Hi Greg, will be out on the 9.30 Bridge. Hopefully it will be clearer by then. Will give you a call before we leave the Harbour to see what it is like where you are. Do you have AIS?
Allan.

Hi Allan
Unfortunately not. I will be trying to head for the south west spoils.
I will judge the visibility When I get down. Just give me a shout on ch6 and hopefully I will be able update you with the sea state as long as we can get out.

Mal Thomas reacted to Bassdaze in Ok so it’s Southampton but......
Blanked for cod in the car park then went off to a hole a bit deeper and had some conga and spurdogs. Finished off on dolphin sands on the way home and put a few whiting of decent size in the cooler as well as plaice. Not a complete bust in the end!

Mal Thomas reacted to Maverick Martin in Scratching Saturday
Apart from the fog in the harbour a fantastic day was had onboard Madness last Saturday. Weather was absolutely perfect the fish were biting and banter was flowing, what more could we ask for. Fish caught were Conger eel (miniscule) Pouting, Whiting, Thornback rays, bass, starfish and whelks, ohh did I forget dogfish? loads of those. All in all a great day afloat with great company, thanks Tony and Neal for joining me.

Mal Thomas reacted to Neal in Bass Competition
From the 1st October we can Legally retain 1 Bass per person per day
We therefore agreed at the October club meeting to proceed with the annual Bass Competition - although for this year in a different format
The winner of this years Bass competition will be the individual that catches the largest Bass during the month of October.
Where possible please include a picture of the fish - if you can't post it, please forward it to a club member that can.
No need to register your intention to fish this competition before hand.
Good luck everyone and let's hope the weather allows us all to go out and catch a few!

Chris and I had a strange start to our Day when Chris spotted a large black refuse sack by stakes bouy. We decided to lift it out as it looked suspicious. Inside the black sack we found two inflated life jackets with names on. We called the find in to the Harbour commissioners just incase anything untoward had happened. On our return to the Harbour we handed in the jackets.

Mal Thomas got a reaction from Hooky in Ray Competition
A fruitful trip on Kingfisher, about 20 rays of all species. We started on the secret Ray mark, my wife, Sandy and Nigel Allen were due to pass us whilst on a trip to Guernsey on the Condor. We had a wave good bye as they left the swash channel, then they turned around were on their way back in with Condor suffering from a Generator problem.
The next hour for them was mayhem. First announcement they were still going after a quick repair, then it was all off the boat it is going no where and did'nt move allday.
Chris and I had several moves during the day, the most fruitful was a late move back to the Swash.
Our best effort was a 12.8lb Undulate to MT and a 10.6lb Thorney to MT.
Another good day on Kingfisher, followed by a swift Doonbar😀😀
