  1. Yeah good boats Hardy, just a bit thirsty and with petrol over
  2. In actual fact the best cure for sea sickness, (forget about the fancy pills from Boot's etc) is to get hold of tablets prescribed to women sufferring from morning sickness in pregnancy. One of my mates used to be tuna handliner fisherman in South Africa, he was prescribed all sorts of sea sickness and motion sickness remedies and eventually his doctor prescribed morning sickness tablets for him, he took one the evening before and one in the morning prior to a trip and within 3 months he was able to dispense with the evening dose. He no longer suffers from sea sickness, so if tablets that are produced to de senstive the balance in the inner ear (used for nearly all motion sickness) I suggest you get one of these morning sickness remedies. I do belive you can get them over the counter without being prescribed, which is probably just as well
  3. Well, well a refugee from Sea-Angling.Org Nice to hear from you again Roger. I've chopped my Hardy and got a 22' Seaworker thats having a very expensive refit from keel band upwards. We are due back in the water in April and you'll be most welcome to join myself and Dan on board during next season. I'm now at Parkstone Bay after suffering a number of thefts from Rockley and have to say the facilities are about 100% better. All the best see you soon Tim
  4. And of course to add insult to injury after stripping back the hull we have discovered two small patches of osmosis. However, my luck does appear to be changing, the patches are very small, they are just above the anti foul line and therefore we have rubbed them out and have washed the pin pricks out, we can now fill them with epoxy and raise the epoxy hull protector to a point above them without ruining the lines of the hull. We checked the patches with a damp meter and thankfully it showed no moisture in the hull at these locations so we got it early and therefore can stop it. PS Dave fired the moisture meter at the hull (below the deck line) and the moisture meter went off the scale, I nearly had a heart attack, then we realised the bilges were still full of water. At least Dave thought it was funny.
  5. Simply Red is out of the water. Having stripped off the old rubbing strakes, side and rear fenders and ripped out the old fuel tank and one of auxiulliary brackets, she is now having her hull stripped ready for her new livery, which funnily enough wont be red, but will be blue. New teak inserts for the new aluminium and rubbers strakes are going on and then the hull will look superb. (Just the top sides to do later then). However after commissioning the work (abot
  6. Thanks very much will give him a call.
  7. Actually Kudos for Honda, I am currently is dispute with BT and a local car dealership both matters are going through Trading Standards for pitifull and in fact criminal behaviour by two organisations (one should know better) and anyone who has had to deal with BT will know that their customer services are only better that British Gas (which is no mean achievement). Therefore it is nice to hear of a company that treats it's customers as customers and not a golden goose and then promptly kills them. I'm happy for you. PS Anyone know anyone who can fit a new head gasket on Ford 4D diesel ?

    Hi

What a load of cr**. The only people who support Man United are from the home counties, who travel up to Old Trafford only to get it confused with the home of Lancashire Cricket Club. and then sit in their executive boxes (are there actually any seats in the ground ???)eating their prawn sandwiches. (Next week I am thinking of supporting Newcastle Athletic as the joke goes) Whereas those of us who actually have a connection with the city of Manchester support the only team in Manchester which of course is Manchester City. There is another club in Manchester of course.... Stockport County.
  9. Fully sympathise with you, given that the head gasket on my Ford 4 D blew after spending over

  11. I think the reason why Dancing Ledge was so popular was because of last week and the posts, but we were lsitening to the VHS and Shelia's Promise and the Green Longliner charter boat (whose name escapes me) were chatting that they had tried a local wreck and had had no joy and in the morning there was a bit of stiff Northerley blowing but on a neap tide and the protection of the clifs it was no problem fishing the mark so it was a combination of both, but at about 1pm when we moved off including ourselves there were 19 boats fishing the mark, we noticed a Jeanneau,a Quicksilver and an Arvor drifting in the Swanage Bay and Ballards area and one other boat fishing the Whitehouse grounds, but the weight of boats west of Poole appeared to be around Dancing Ledge and Kimmeridge areas.
  12. Take both your points on the ID of the fish, the Thornback does appear to be an undulate and the blonde appears to be a small eyed ray. Therefore last years cod was probably a bass, my bream was likely to have been an eel and so on. Thanks anyway....... I have booked mark the aquariam site to help me in the future...
  13. Both rays were taken in about 55 feet of water on the drift using pennell rigs baited with mackeral.
  14. Bang goes this years foreign holiday.
  15. A small blonde, but perfectly formed
  16. A few pics which might interest, or not as the case maybe
  17. Simply Red (aka Wots the Point) initial refit was finally completed for the worst weekend of the year and her sea trials were completed in a force 6/7 with 6 foot swells. After kitting her out we took part in last weekends Species Hunt, well it was the Dolphins Bream Comp for everyone else. So this weekend was our first chance to take her out to some marks of our own after inheriting some 200 new ones from last year. After bombing over to Bournemouth Pier we discovered the boat will happily cruise at 10-11 knotts at just under 2,000 revs and hit 13 knotts plus later when we gave it the hammer, problem is anyone in the cockpit at that speed gets wet. So a pleasant Friday evening was spent grabbing some mackeral and some tub gunard before an early start today. We left at 7am and after tanking up we travelled out intially to Dancing Ledge, we were one of only three boats initally on the mark but during the morning we were joined by another 18 boats. After a few bream (where were you last weekend?( they were here it's just we weren't.)) We decided to move off to one of our new marks to drift a hole between Swanage and the Whitehouse Grounds. Total result of the day..... Numerous Bream up to 2lb + Numerous LSD Blonde Ray 6lb Thornback Ray 15.5 lb (Dan's PB) Wrasse Mackeral (both caught on bare hook recovering Bream rigs) Baits were rag tipped with squid and fresh Mackeral. Absolute cracking day, downside is that after Monday stuck in London for three weeks. If you see Simply Red before then it's either being skipperred by Dan or iit's been nicked. Photos to follow....
  18. BBC website is really poor and as accurate in forecasting the weather as I am.
  19. We picked up a Standard Horizon Colour chartplotter complete with the cartridge for the South Coast, Channel and Northern France all for under
  20. Very nice looking boat. Orkneys, last for years and keep their value, much prefer them to the Eastern European jobs. Well done, I hope you have many happy times in her.
  21. If it's a case that you want a reasonable mooring for occaissional use for a short term period (ie 6 months) then I would reccomed Parkstone Bay. Their 6 month summer swing moorings are as cheap as Rockley, they provide a free water taxi service to and from your boat, Rockley don't so you dont need to use a tender at Rockley. Parkstone Bay is closer to the mouth of the Harbour by far (saving at least 20 minutes steaming time). It's also a lot secure than Rockley, has CCTV that work and staff that are helpful as oppossed to Rockley and you're a lot less likely to have anything stolen from or off your boat at Parkstone than you are at Rockley, belive me I speak from experience. Hope that helps...
  22. Are you sure ????? You're wondering what damage a single ship and it's payload is going to cause to our fishing when the sea bed and the envronment has had to put up with years of abuse, dumping, pollution, over fishing, and unsustainable economic and industrial use of the sea and shore line. I would say with a degree of perspective, a drop in the ocean.
  23. Well I pissed myself, and I'm supposed to know better ???? I thought it was funny as f***.

Yes, agree with all the others, bought my copy last week the first time since last June, really quite good. Didn't think the free Navman Catalogue was such a good free gift, but you can't have everything.
  25. I've been to the London Boat Show since it started to be held at Excel Centre three years ago, fortunately my gaff in London is only accross the Dock from the Excel and due to friends in low places I can get in for nought. The show has, due to it's location in London has been primarily of interest for mid range cruisers, although on the first holding they did have HMS London a type 42 moored up. Intially they did have stands for smaller boats such as Orkney, Warrior and Merry Fisher but over the last few years these have now given way to the entry level boats such as Landaus (a snip at
