  1. The cancelled Bream Comp we hope if the weather plays ball will be on the 14th and 15th of June. Should this prove to late notice do say or hopefully sign up below. Loobie 1V crew TBC
  2. ATM Charlie its not looking good at all, especially Monday, even Poole is looking less agreeable if it is a non starter. Hey Ho.
  3. One week to go before the Bream Comp, around 20 anglers and 7 boats signed up we have a competition, which is great news, and hopefully a few more boats to enter. Don't forget juniors there are prizes, and seniors get your name on that trophy. Lets get lots of pictures, and perhaps keep count of males and females to help those needing that information to help the future of the bream and our sport. I will post weather report on Thursday/Friday
  4. Dale well done for entering, there are rules and regs on the Club Website third one down in the competitions section, saying about pretty much everything like number of rods, number of hooks, times etc. However obviously everything is done on trust and having fun. Any questions do post again. I will post 48hrs beforehand about weather. Its really good we have a few boats entering and time for more yet
  5. Dogfish were unfortunately jumping on the hooks whatever bait was put on, the LSD was even less impressed with the labrador!
  6. Only two weeks before the Bream Comp. Lets hope for some good weather and a good turn out.
  7. the one i have atm is a Shakespeare agility which is pretty much bottom of the ladder but done two seasons, sorry Charlie only saw the make on Friday.
  8. A trip out yesterday in glorious weather, our plans were scuppered after going out 18 miles it was still a horrible dirty chocolate colour. After discussion we headed back in rather than going further to look for better water visability. After checking the usual marks we had a dozen Bream, again the majority were males, some monster Pout and the obligatory LSD and congers. My great start to the month came back to bite me as i failed to catch a Bream all day!!! A few club boats out so it will be interesting to see how they got on. I think boat cleaning and gardening until the grot disappears.
  9. Veals usually have something Charlie.
  10. Family over from South Africa and nephews desperate to fish, the weather window slotted in a treat. Wind direction was well out from some apps, but trusty XC unfortunately correct, first spot produced nothing, so a move found the fish with a dozen+ Bream to just over 2lbs, lsd, Whiting and whips kept them busy for a couple of hours. "don't be disappointed if you miss a few bites lads as they can be finnicky!!!!!" They hit the baits as if they had never eaten before!! So great success and hook ups, i explained about the males, females, eggs breeding etc so one fish each taken for tea. Incredibly small tides killed off the chance of a Plaice at the end of the day however the sun came out and we headed in after a really fun day.
  11. You hit the nail on the head Charlie, i have a SS net which is enormously strong but it is very heavy to land your own fish, so a light weight one similar size but ally handle and rubber net is a piece of cake if single handed or for Bream or Bass.
  12. Red letter Pollock day on Loobie 1V
  13. Having seen lots of reports of some decent Pollock being caught, yesterdays weather window and tide to good to miss. 7.30 bridge and a lovely calm sea and a good run just over two hours at 23knots bought us to our first wreck. Two shooting friends and Dogfish Dave on board, the two friends were new to wrecking so i had tied up lots of rigs!!!! First drift an 8lbs Pollock for Baz, his first ever Pollock so over the moon and a good Red Gurnard to Dave and a fat Pout for Piggy. The sun came out and it was glorious, nearly 200ft with a maximium 3 knot drift all the ducks were in a row! A reasonably steady flow of fish throughout the day with some smaller ones managing to be put back. I christened a new SPJ outfit with first a PB 15lbs Pollock, then a 19lbs Pollock then an 18lbs fish!!!! All the fish gods were smiling on me that day for sure. With 3 Pollock each i decided we should head for home for the 4.30 bridge, after 10 minutes we hit a VERY thick fog bank, about 50m viz, radar on 3 other very experienced Yachtmaster crew on board helped one watching the radar, and two on watch was good for confidence, encountered one small boat off Durleston on the radar then one total ejit in the Swash doing 20knots with no radar echo on a rib!!!! Luckily we made the bridge with time to spare, none of us had seen fog in the forecast. Really red letter day for me and a great all round craic.
  14. Bream Comp 10-11th May Juniors included! So the 2025 Bream Competition is also for any juniors, members or not. They must fish on a club members boat with a club member. 15. your getting soft Rob! I always use a plank, but then thats probably why i suffer with "farmers"!!!!!
  16. Sorry guys its now sold. I knew i should of asked for more!!!!!!!
  17. If you buy the rod yes, and i will reduce it a bit so the person joins the club!! A deal not to be missed!
  18. I have decided to sell an outfit i have had for probably 3 seasons but only used 3 times. Its a nice set up but i like a softer action rod, my other rods have a really through action which i have become used to. I am really happy to help anyone new to SPJ if you are new to it. It can be absolutly deadly and out fish other methods by a long way when conditions and anglers skills allow!!!! Just look on Youtube. The rod is a Majorcraft CRXJ/5SJ 120g-300g The reel is a Gomexus LX 50 rhw The rod i think i bought from Chesil Bait and tackle £178.00 and the reel from Jigabite £200.00 Its basically a new outfit. £230.00 including a trip Bassing if you fancy it! i am advertising it elsewhere
  19. yes of course Carl, i will endeavour to bring to the April meeting! feel free to remind me, see Chris doing the raffle for the charity money. Many thanks
  20. Thanks Steve, i have done the Pollock survey, unfortunately i think we have all done a few similar ones over the years but we never see or hear any results. Fingers crossed we might here
  21. Loobie 1V will be with you guys, crew TBC weather permitting, hopefully Sophie will have room!!!
  22. I have ended up with two!! A donation to the club charity.
  23. Hi Dale, i will put a reminder up about a week beforehand, if the weather looks kind just post your boats name, your crew, and which day you are fishing. Hopefully there will be other members signing in so basically follow the thread. Tight Lines
  24. It has been suggested we should hold a Bream Comp this year, i look forward to seeing lots of entries. Bream Comp 10-11th May All other competitions will be run on fish entered to the fish recorder over the year. Tight lines between now and then, and i hope to get a good turnout weather permitting in May Jerry
