  1. If anyone is still remotely unsure as to where they should go to catch their first Marlin then here is a recap. Last year I visited with mates Roger and Greg and in 5 days fishing we had 27 fish including 15 in one day. Our biggest was 700 to 750lb with a few over the 500lb mark. Greg has just got back from 6 days fishing on the same boat. In 6 days fishing with another angling pal he has had 30 yes THIRTY Blue Marlin to 700lb with several over 550lb and many taken on mid weight stand-up tackle! This place is perhaps the most incredible and consistent venue anywhere in the world for any billfish, let alone Blue Marlin. The main run is from the beginning of April through to July with a few fish showing outside of these times. Outside of the dates fish do show, but no one really fishes for them, but also expect yellowfin tuna, wahoo, possibly sailfish, shark, amberjacks etc etc etc. I so wish I could go back!!!! Tom
  2. That would typically be the case Duncan, but right now there are bargains galour as people are getting increasingly desparate to sell and get capital back. It's a shame, but true. We are selling shed loads of used boats at the moment. The only proviso is that they must be a bargain.
  3. I was joking Bass Man ...sort of joking! Most of the regulars on here no me well enough to know what I do for a living and I am fortunate (unfortunate ) enough to work with some of them too. Seriously, a great bunch and complete with my very expensive (broken) boat, I shall be tapping you up for a trip out on your excellent cheap one. You can get an awesome fishing package for the money you have so don't worry. Tom
  4. Tom You could always get your boss to sponsor the site, that way we wouldn't have to spot your inadvertent adds Martin Awww comon.... I always tell you when I am doing it. BOAT SALES HERE!
  5. Hi Bass Man Welcome to the PBSBAC forum. I echo the other comments about joining the club properly, you'll get so much more out of it. I also echo the comments about telling us more about the type of boat you want.... size, budget, style, what is your main fishing techinque (eg: Stalking the lowtide line for Bass and Mullet or anchoring for Winter Cod or heading to distant wrecks)? Given more information, the club members will help you find the perfect boat for your particular needs. Tom Ahem, Day Angler 21 with 75Hp inboard diesel and twin axle trailer for sale at Parkstone Bay Oooo, how long until the mods spot this bit and remove it......

Hi Pirky My own (poorly) boat is there and I happen to work there too. Welcoem to Parkstone Bay Marina and the club.
  7. I heard they were supposed to be purple....? Sorry I can't make the meeting chaps I would have loved to have been told all about Alderney... AGAIN! Tom Barstewards!
  8. Guys I've just had a call from Holger, one of the owners of Troms Explorer which some of you will know is the superb 43' powercat that I took to Norway last Summer. 1) Are you a yachtmaster with (or can get) commercial endorsement? 2) Do you have a nack at finding great fish? 3) Are you or have you ever fancied a spot of charter skippering? 4) Are you free immediately for 3 weeks? OR 5) Are you free for the entire Summer season from May 1st to the end of September next year? If you answered yes to 4 out of 5 of the above (or 5 out of 5!) then send me a PM as Holger needs you now! They have just opened a new hotel and are majorly busy which means Holger is looking for a top skipper to help immediately for three weeks and the same person or "A N Other" for next Summer season. This is a genuine job opportunity to skipper possibly the best charter boat in Norway and be part of a very high profile team. Chances are you'll be filming onboard as well as fishing so be prepared for anything. You'll not get rich, but will have an awesome time. All flights will be paid, all accommodation and food will be provided. Pay is likely to be GBP
  9. Then put the Bass in the Tuna Tubes and use them to catch those globally warmed English Channel Blue Marlin.
  10. I did check Met check for both Poole and Alderney and then the inshore and shipping forecast too....
  11. I am not remotely jealous Barstewards! Tom PS: Have great fun lads, catch plenty.
  12. It is fractionally better than they suggest. Last time I fuelled there I went in on the two hours before and had quite a bit of water under us. There is a depth guage on the wall. Those with outdrives will find it a little easier as you can trim up and save the best part of another foot. It is a little tight to turn when you go in as it will be shallower over towards the beach area of the inner harbour. Tom
  13. I don't like being watched, but in truth we aren't. My email to my aunty about a disabled second cousin really isn't that interesting and won't be abused. If a peado happens to be using a similar service and his contacts are recorded and caught then fantastic. I don't see it as a problem to me and as I have nothing to hide apart from the odd scan of Pizza Huts latest menu it doesn't bother me. Tom
  14. It was worth a try Howard. Stay in touch with the marina though a other positions come up and our engineering side seems to be growing.
  15. Downrigging live mackerel very slow trolled for Tope, Bass, Shark etc. Towing lures Congering The downrigger should allow the use of much lighter gear as you aren't hauling huge leads around on a rod. I've toyed with the idea of getting one for Quest II. But at the moment I think I need to spend time breathing life into Quest II instead.
  16. That ones a classic Adam Somewhere on the East coast if I remember? Apparently they had some serious prop damage as a result of launching too early.
  17. Best of luck guys. For those who have not done it before, guestimate more fuel than you may have... especially the shaft drive boats. Very roughly, with average conditions and at about 15 knots a 23 foot boat can expect the following: 100 litres each way 50 to 55 litres each day on the banks
  18. After my recent fun and games (long from being sorted), I am whincing as I say it Martin, but, the very best of luck!
  19. Thanks to all that offered me space for the crossing after my own boat went bang and a special thanks to Neal for the accepted space aboard his boat. Sadly, my week went from bad to worse and the car also broke down on Friday leaving me with a
  20. Not sure about the dinghy, but the following day in a big swell over the Schole bank....
  21. Thanks for the offer Brian. Fingers crossed I am all sorted... Triple Axle trailer being borrowed from my mates at Essex Boatyards Southampton office. Land Rover being borrowed from your friendly Parkstone Bay Marina manager.
  22. Hi guys I am sure most of you know the problems I am having! The boat is stuck in Weymouth and I need to try and get her back here as soon as I can. My friends at Prime Motoryachts have kindly offered a trailer, but another boat is on it for the time being. So.... Does anyone have a large trailer that is able to take a shaft drive boat that weighs about 2.2 tonnes with all the clobber onboard that I can borrow for an evening in the next day or two? I don't mind paying a small fee to rent one. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Tom
  23. Hi Guys Just a note from me to say a huge thank you to the generous offers of a space aboard your boats. It really was generous of everyone to offer and I didn't really know how to (or want to) separate one offer from the other. I am still only 90% on for the trip, but had to make a decision and ultimately I chose the boat and skipper that I know the best (only because I know he'll tell me to shut up when I am getting too gobby). Thanks again to all the offers, I sincerely hope to be able to repay everyone's generosity. For this trip, I would like to travel with Neal and crew aboard his Arvor 250 if his offer is still available. I'll try and make the pub meeting where I'll buy all those that offered a drink and will hopefully be able to share some good marks and ideas. Tom
  24. Have a good day Jim Happy Birthday mate
