B***cks! It is certainly good practise to write a passage plan and let loved ones etc know of your intentions, but the coastguard and or port would get mighty miffed if every single boat leaving a harbour gave them the full details. On longer journeys I have sometimes let the coastguard know where I am going to and when I expect to be back, but no more. That comment sounds more like something for the Merchant Navy, where you will have a full passage plan which the port will have. Tom

HI Alan You have a PM. Anything you need to know, just ask. Where is the boat? Looks a bit like Ferry Bridge in Weymouth, but I don't recognise the name "Whiplash". All the best Tom

Looks a bit plasticy. Somewhere between a Selva, MG and a Drago Sunday Fishing. Sure it will be fine on the water as I wouldn't imagine the Raider people would have taken a dealership for a piece of junk. Reading the blurb they are the importers and not the builders and I guess they checked it over thoroughly before signing up.

"Andy, I was down the car park yesterday and I saw the kids doing this great trick with their skateboards and thought I'd give it a goooooOOOOOOO!" PS: What happened to "Fishing Adventures number 3"?

I think they are cracking fishers Jack (I prefer mine of course), I was more referring to the gentlemen (?) at the helm. All the best Tom

From what I heard Jack the same applies to forwards!

On VHF Channel 6: "Maverick Maverick Maverick, 'sis Pal-O-Mine, Pal-O-Mine, Pal-O-Mine... ...When you said the Swash was a bit choppy you really meant it!"

Reasonance, that is it. That was the word i was looking for in my first post. A way that will sometimes cure it is incredibly simple. You may find this resonance only happens when the engine is trimmed right down hard. Simply trimming out the tiniest amount (the tiniest touch on the trim button)may stop it. Tom

Charlie I am pretty sure everyone knows the style that you want to get. I think a lot of the suggestions have come from people who started with exactly the same idea as you and have go themselves hooked (so to speak)! You have set yourself a sensible budget so that if you found you hated it or you weren't getting the use then at least it you don't have to mortgage the house so all in all excellent and you will probably find that everyone on here will be as helpful as possible with tips, tricks and advice. I think everyone would agree that at the budget you have set aside you will find many boats to suit from very cheap to right at the top of your expenditure. Again some will be good, some will be bad. If you can find a boat that may need a touch up here and there, but is essentially sound for around the

Hi all Please don't see this as a blatant advert as at this moment in time I don't have them in stock anyway. If the moderators see it as an advert then please remove the post and I will consider my wrist slapped. I have a number of customers who are trading Warriors, Orkneys and the like. When we deal with these customers, if we are not keen on the px from a business point of view, we may either: 1) Not take it and the buyer sells it privately 2) Place it on brokerage and make a small commission 3) Trade it to a suitable boat dealer at considerably under retail price (usually 20%) In option 3 above, we make no money, in fact we sometimes loose as we are just trying to make the transaction smoother for the buyer of the new boat. Most of these boats are super little fishers and the mainstay of small boat angling in the UK. With all the chat on the forum about "I'm getting a Warrior" and the such like if anybody would like to be kept informed of boats we may potentially take in then please PM me and I will put you on a contacts list. Any of these boats would be sold on a trade basis and at trade prices. They would all be sold in a similar fashion to a private sale, however we would always make sure we had full title paperwork and supporting docs to hand over to you. If anything at all was missing then we would inform you and you would be free to make an informed judgement over the history of the boat. Basically we wouldn't just give you a hand written receipt saying "Sold as seen". Please email or PM me with your "wish list" (please include maximum realistic budget) and I will try and only send details of boats that fit the bill. Tom

Poor old Chris really doesn't want to sell and he is my main fishing partner in the syndicate, however he has been given the option of a part purchase / part rent house and he needs to clear any loans to prove his credit worthiness. He has to do this pretty quick too, so (sssh) the asking price is just an opening gambit and would just slightly more than cover his investment in the boat, however I know he will take a fair offer.

I have run a Suzuki 70Hp 4s on several of our boats and don't get any probs. They do seem a little noisier than other Suzuki's, but never felt a vibration issue. Coddy, may have the answer with a ding or inbalance in the prop, but unlikely if it has been that way since new.

Those of you that know me are probably aware that Quest II (featured in Sea Angler mag December or a pic on Members Boats) is owned by a syndicate of 5. Unfortunately one of the syndicate is thinking of selling due to financial reasons (buying a house) and so I am putting a tentative enquiry on here. Quest II Merry Fisher 695 Shaft drive Nanni 155Hp diesel 6.99m hull length, 7.68m loa CE Category B Built by Jeanneau 2005, commissioned 2005 Amongst other equipment she has: Raymarine C120 Plotter 2Kw Raymarine Radar Raymarine Smartpilot Autopilot Raymarine DSM 300 fish finder module Raymarine 54E DSC VHF Hydraulic Steering Deckwash 130ltr. Main Tank 53ltr. Built in Reserve Tank 10 gallon Live well Approx 200ltr. Insulated fish box Electric Windlass Twin Wipers Galley Pressurised Fresh Water Rod Holders all round Twin Batteries Separate Heads with Marine Toilet Flares, Lifejackets etc etc etc etc She is an absolutely superb sea boat and will sleep 3 in reasonable comfort. She is no speed boat topping out at 23 knots light, but cruises all day at between 13 and 16 knots for economy (18 knots at a push). She still has the full balance of all warranties. Her home port is Weymouth where she has a pontoon berth Fully serviced and well used (140 hours in 9 months), but absolutely 100% lovely and capable of anything from Weymouth to Alderney, to the Solent, to the West Country. A 1/5 share will entitle the buyer to full use at anytime, although other syndicate members are entitled to join the same trip if they wish (a quick phone call sorts this out) although we hardly ever fish more than 3 anyway. Ongoing costs (insurance, berthing, servicing, improvements etc) are split 5 ways regardless of use levels. Fuel is topped up by the user after each trip so that the next user has a full tank. Any new syndicate member is subject to approval by other owners Quest II has a retail value of over

Some boats / some engines have what I term (don't know official name) crytical revs. It is quite simply that at a certain revs the engine is at it's least smooth and so anything that can shake will shake. There isn't really an answer apart from steer clear of that RPM. It isn't serious and shouldn't be an issue. Duncan may well have a far more technical explanation and the Warrior owners on here may have an actual solution. Tom

Visit http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk And search for reference F80996 Been talking with Charlie and this may not be suitable for him, but I know the boat builders who have done this one up and she is 100% top notch as a sports fisher. They have heavily modified the boat for sports fishing and sport boating generally. Mods: They used a good 535 Hull Took off original "cabin" and hand built a small forward cuddy, leaving a full 10 foot of open deck. The deck is completely sealed which leads to a sump ready to take a bilge pump. She has been well, but very toughly finished ready to take a beating and is available with an older, but apparently good (can't comment as I haven't seen it) 40 Hp Mercury. Advertised at

Charlie Over the coming weeks I may be taking several smaller boats in px which could well suit you. Would be happy to deal at trade prices to move stock that doesn't normally suit our line up. What sort of budget have you set yourself and I will keep an eye out for you. Tom

Hi Steve Sorry I missed you. I would have been happy to grab 5 mins for a coffee. Duncan and I planned to grab a beer, but timing being what it is we never managed to actually do it... If you were looking for me on the Sealine stand ( Grrrr ) you wouldn't have found me unless I was there pointing out that the S34 had a CE plate C for 6. Sealine are my arch rivals (along with Beneteau, Arvor, Quicksilver, Ocqueteau, Rodman, Starfisher etc etc). At Southern Motorboats we exclusively sell Jeanneau's from 15 feet through 50 feet. The range includes centre console sports boats, pilot house fishers, cabin cruisers, sports cruisers and luxury flybridge and sports boats at the top end. Although many other brands were declaring doom and gloom with massively reduced attendance figures, Jeanneau (power) actually had their best ever London show with sales of more than 4 times the figure of last year. As a dealer, London is normaly a tough show with not many people making the trek up from the South Coast, but we managed nearly 5 times the sales of last year, so we are dead chuffed. Hoping for a good selection of boats to nose around for our open weekend / office launch at Salterns on 28th and 29th January. There will be a few fishers to view, but all are welcome to come and look around any of the boats and nab a glass of champers. As mentioned in another post, I am sure I will be available to talk Pollox should anyone want to join me! Tom

Hi Mike Nice to meet you at the show, and for that matter any of the rest of the members that said hello. I was dissapointed to see that the new Warrior Pilot House wasn't their and on talking to the Warrior guys they said that they couldn't focus on two projects at the same time and so the "Pro Angler" took over. Didn't spend a huge amount of time looking, but the pro angler seems to be a 165 that they have put a fold away cuddy closing kit on. There seemed to be no obvious differences apart from some basic ones giving the opportunity to charge more money. Oh well, they still build excellent boats though. Tom
