  1. Well the pontoon went in this morning. So the water taxi should be running or you at least have somewhere easy to leave tenders etc. Toerag is fishing the Schole Bank today and has given me the numbers for the snag. 49 34 891 2 12 861 Almost certain. 49 35 172 2 12 745 Another possible. Have a safe trip over.
  2. Fuel here is spiralling up, as everywhere! Diesel from Mainbrayce in the inner harbour is 78p a litre. Petrol from the station is around
  3. Hi Guys, not posted for a while but I noticed this thread. The weekend you are looking at we have a high of 5.78 on Sat rising to a 6.38 on Mon. To be honest a bit big for the flatties, but not for all of the tide. Hovever great for the bass which will be arriving then. So far this year the flatty fishing has been apalling due to the cloudy water. So the charter boats this week have been going for the tope with some boats getting 30 in a morning! Sounds like fun to me! Then, oddly, they anchor up off Platte Saline and catch up to 70 black bream up to 3 1/2 lb. Again thats not bad sport. So theres 2 ways to look at it, there should be loads of turbot 'cos nobodys catching them. Or everything else is kicking off big time, if you are happy with tope, bass, and bream! Hope this helps.
  4. Cheers Paul, will do.
  5. Hi Guys, I remember a while ago that someone mentioned a prop repairer in the Poole area, but cant find the thread. Any recommendations? It's not for me, my brother in law clouted a rock with his brand new Suzi 140 whilst trying one of my shallow water plugging marks It's not completely mullered by he would like it repaired to keep as a spare. Cheers
  6. The standard horizon was voted 'best buy' in a group test in Practical Boat Owner mag. 3 year warranty too. I havent got one but thought I'd mention it!
  7. If you want to go faster with a new paint job, don't use XP, use the new Vista, it's much faster ....... But crashes a lot more
  8. Don't know if you went to Cherbourg Duncan, I turned back as the conditions were decidedly lumpy to say the least!
  9. Nice one Mike! Hang on a minute what am I saying, me an Etec owner too
  10. I may see you in Cherbourg Duncan, I'm doing the monthly trolley dash/booze cruise on Saturday. Not overnight though, I'm supposed to be within 1 hour of the telephone exchange in case of a catastrophe! Keep an eye out for a little bloke on a red orkney 21 with very little freeboard
  11. Just wondered if there was a club trip to over this side this year? The fishing is certainly hotting up now. The banks nearer to the island are full of bass, albeit a bit small and the turbot & brill are also showing now. Had a PB turbot of 9-4 at the weekend (small I know but turbot are my nemesis!) Now the water is clearing the wrecks are producing plenty of pollack to mid double figures. I'td be nice to put names to faces if you are coming
  12. Ordered mine from Cabbage Key for
  13. Cheers guys, I'll have a look. Trouble is I need a specific colour. Sort of a dull graphite black with a hint of corrosion. Otherwise the missus will realise I've bought yet another reel
  14. Hi Tom, Did you get your Avet from the UK or from the USA? I looked at the Avet website and see that they do silver, gold or blue. But when I look at fleabay there are some great deals but also lots of colours like black, yellow and even purple! My sceptical mind is wondering if there are cheap forgeries about!
  15. Mine will be sold before it gets to 3 years old to make way for a diesel engined boat. In Alderney we will still have red diesel but they are abolishing car road tax and adding 20p a litre onto petrol, with no exeptions for boat petrol So Mr Bettle I may be seeing you later this year!
  16. Those grey 1 inch pipes running to each engine must be the fuel lines I guess I know what you mean Mike about people praising their engines whatever make they are, even Tohatsu Must say however my Etec90 gets my Orkney 21 from zero to 25 knots in about 10 seconds. Pointless I know, but I love it
  17. Cheers guys, I guess I'll have to check with the dealer. When you say some aren't that clued up that is an understatement where my dealer is concerned! They sent the wrong cables, wrong prop and wrong oil! Then charged me
  18. Did your Evinrude dealer contact you regarding the update? I've heared nothing from my dealer, but that doesn't surprise me. Is the mod necessary, as I'd have to travel from Alderney to Guernsey to get it done. I'd really like to get the diagnostic report though.
  19. I'll bring my dropnet
  20. Take me out next time youre over Fred!!

    Salt-x

Is Salt-X really any good then? I've always raided the cleaning cupboard for Mr Muscle Bathroom or Viacal myself.
  22. Well done Duncan Sorry I didn't catch up with you lot, I'm sure I'll see Fred next week though
  23. Pure class Fred See you when you're back over next week. I'm out with a couple of mates from UK for 3 days then too.
  24. The 20 was from the South (nice 'cos it's close) no word yet on the 25. The truth will come out though
  25. And a 25lb turbot today
