    Hi Gary

Welcome Gary, Of interest what speed does your Orkney manage as I get around 17 knots ( on a good day ) 2 up with a Honda 30 HP 4 stroke.

I can;t seem to find details of the boat park along Bridge Street. However, this is the URL for all the moorings / winter boat parks in Christchurch. May be of use. Christchurch Moorings

Baz, I don't know about Herne Bay but Christchurch have parking for boats/trailers and launch facility along Bridge Street. I will try to find the URL for the prices if you want, but presumably you want something nearer.
  5. Anchor Yanka have sponsored a link from the front page of the site, so take a visit and there is some useful information on their anchor retrieval systems. Anchor Yanka

    Trailer Board

Gary, Please register, then I will have a fellow Orkney 520 owner on the forum. ( It gets lonely here amongst all these Warriors )
  7. Welcome Steve, I actually work by the road to Hayling Island and have a friend at work who fishes out of Langstone Harbour. Cod trip off Nab Tower is on the cards in approx 2-3 weeks time hopefully Welcome onboard Paul
  8. Caught some nice whiting last year on squid but had the better ones on fish baits. There are some nice marks just off the end of Christchurch ledge if you fancy a steam over from Poole. I had better success catching Whiting than any other fish so far. I was fishing a simple running ledger with around 4-5 foot trace and size 2 uptide hook ( I think ! )

    Thanks....

Here, here, many thanks to Martin for getting the squid and particularily for getting it early so I could get off to London. Now bring on the cod

Thanks for the kind comments. It is the forum that does it for us really. Keeping the other pages up to date is a bit of a nightmare - As they say "content is key" and a forum is a must.
  12. Haven't launched from Town Quay, but have been along to "reccy" it out. There is very little room for manoeuvring there and the slipway is smaller. I think you would have big problems with your boat there ( as I would also ) Bath Road is far superior.

    Sea Check

Mike, "Yes, very good sailors have used them for years....." only post war Mike, radar wasn't invented prior to that Seriously, when we were heading out of Weymouth in fog, I was beginning to think it would be a good idea to have one, what with that big Condor Ferry around

Dave, Haven't worked out how to place your avatar from the admin panel here, so you will have to do this yourself. However, to help I have shrunk your picture for you ( attached ). Save this and then use this as your avatar ( as set from "My controls" ). Any problems let me know. regards Paul PS; Does this entitle me to a large discount on a Predator now

Dave, You shrink the image ( I use MSPaint ) to a smaller size and then use "My controls" to set as your avatar.
  16. Sunday sounds good. I am up for a trip out as I haven't been able to get out for the last 3 weeks now. ( Intend to take Neo out ). I will ask my friend who wanted to go on the Weymouth trip if he would like to crew ( or were you after crew ? ) Presumably you are talking Lymington launch if going south of the Needles ?
  17. Good luck James and hopefully Tara will be getting a nice new engine in the not too distant future

    Auxiliary bracket

The height is adjustable ( ie. Can lower the aux to be deeper in the water or higher ). The main problem I had was getting the bracket high enough to keep the outboard out of the water ( Mine still drags slightly in the water - but not too bad ).
  19. Bob, Adam has his flares ( I got them for him from Pumpkin Marine ).

    Sea Check

Mind you, what grounds would you have for complaint if a yacht slices you in two when at anchor , if you have no balls showing ( perhaps I should reword that ! ).

    Anchor

and can I add - do not to forget to set up the anchor so that it will trip ( I was blissfully uinaware what this mean't until I lost my first one, which was a daneforth and useless for rocky ground). ie. Attach the chain to the bottom of the anchor and use a tie wrap to attach to the top of the anchor, leaving sufficient loose chain in between such that a hard pull on a jammed anchor will break the tie wrap and pull the anchor out backwards. ( apologies if I am telling you how to suck eggs )
  22. Coddy, We rented a place in Jumpers over the winter some years back. Pettengels estate agents had a few places like this. Also, Hoburne Holiday Park, Highcliffe rent out over the winter.
  23. Was going to try the Solent Sunday, but given that the weather forecast had a HUGE arrow with "Gales" written in it and warnings that travelling on Sunday is inadvisable, I decided it wouldn't be the best time to be in the middle of the Solent ( and then with the knowledge that it will only get worst as the day goes on ). Oh well - only been three weeks since I last went out
  24. "I guess we may feel its effects early October." That's like me saying "You know Mike I have never blanked ....." It is not Karl this time though, it is Lisa and Jeanene combined = no weymouth trip.
  25. Duncan - It is in fact a powerpoint presentation. I have attached it ( and includes 2 other pics ) Powerpoint file - right click and select "save as"
