  1. Duncan, Paul is almost correct, but you are also "Onto something" ! As I knew we would be coming back in the dark and I know the channel marker buoys in the run had been moved, I thought it would be a good idea ( incorrectly as it transpired ) to erase my older track out from Christchurch in order to get a good one to come back in on. We then found out just how foggy it was and I realised it was a bad move. However, the saving grace was I had previously placed waypoints at each marker buoy position, so knew what way to steer and look. ( Unlike one boat we saw who was literally going around in circles with not a clue and I am sure nearly ran into SeaJay who was behind us ) Finding the buoys in the run was more difficult though as they had been moved. I knew we had to find them as we were heading out on HW and back in near LW and I needed a good track to follow back in. As it turned out, it was a good job I drew a good track out as when we returned we found all the buoys ( bar one ) had been removed for the winter Lesson learnt was : Think really carefully before removing your old tracks !
  2. I had to stop and reconnect my GPS as it had a loose connection ( honest ). Have to say I was impressed with the speed you achieved - I was just a shade quicker but was 2 up with all the extra weight ( plus cuddy ). Also didnt have the bottle to go throught the run the speed you did !

    Help

Mike, I have the same model but in mono The range setting is usually fine left on auto. However, you can get a double echo often which means the setting defaults to the wrong depth showing two "bottoms". Mine seemed to work OK until I fiddled with the settings after Bob F gave a talk at the club
  4. Bit close for comfort I think.....
  5. 100% guaranteed that you wont get through the run on a low water spring tide. I can get my Orkney through there on around 0.9 metres on the tide table. The smaller LW of the two on a neap I can get through but springs - not a cat in hells chance. If the depth doesnt get you then the current ripping through and the inability to steer with a high degree of tilt on your engine will ! I can show you my selection of destroyed props if you don't believe me
  6. The forms have a link to cchapman212@ntlworld.net I think they need to be sent to wchapman212@ntlworld.net ? or charlie@pbsbac.co.uk will do. or send them all to webmaster@pbsbac.co.uk and I will collate them and forward to you.
  7. With mates like these who needs enemies ! What is even more upsetting is I was invited to fish and opted to go "doggie" fishing instead
  8. Was just studying the fishbase details and apparently the reds have a smooth lateral line as well, whereas the tub gurnard has a raised lateral line. From the picture it does appear raised. FishID
  9. Dave, E-Mail in a catch report ( using the button at the top of the websire here ) for the gurnard as it equals the existing club record.
  10. Carl, I was beginning to think I had gone mad as I was sure I heard you say it was heavier. Now quite relieved Still a very nice fish and the first to be recorded in the new database.
  11. What's Entiser ?
  12. Dire day today but still enjoyable. No wind, flat as a pancake but the fish didnt want to play. 4 dogfish ( amongst around 40 odd ), 1 whiting, 2 scad I know Enticer fared better and my theory is further offshore is the answer due to all the rain we have had recently.

    Excellent. Thanks Martin.
  14. Trawling through the deepsea forum and noted someone posted a link to a fishing video clip site. Downloaded the "low" quality clip and it is very good. ( I like the boat navigating the waves ! ) Inshore Fishing The site itself is here Videos

    Rivet Gun

Does anyone have a rivet gun ( and two rivets ) which I could use to repair the hinge on my Orkney seat box ? The two rivets have broken, so I can either re-rivet them or will use a self tapper of I cant get an rivet/rivet gun.
  16. Will be fishing out of Christchurch with new member Richard Stevens ( Rich on here ). Hoping to get the 4 mullet, wrasse, bass, pollack, scad, mackeral before turning to the 4 whiting and 4 cod See you at the rock Mike ( as no doubt will Gordon as well ). Bring it on "Loyal Royal"
  17. Kam, Put me down for 10 as well please.

  20. Will probably be sticking to Christchurch for the species comp (better the devil you know and all that ).
  21. Simon, Come the winter the quay is not busy at all ( and free to launch ). Parking is cheaper then as well. However, still need to push the trailer out further etc. but you do get a head start as no need to steam through the harbour. I must admit I launch most time from Wick as easier for me to get the boat of the trailer. ( Need to get a trailer with a cradle and launching / retrieval will be so much easier ).
  22. All catch reports which are sent via the link at the top of this page will now be recorded in a database at the time of sending ( automatically ). This has two benefits. 1) The Fish Recorder will not need to worry about receiving the e-mail or not. 2) A searchable database can be built up to see what was caught and when. I will now work on a "front end" to allow the catch reports to be searched and viewed. Once this is done the catch report details from the past will need to be used to populate the database. Following that, I intend to create an area where users can record their boat serial numbers ( and any equipment they have ).
  23. Mike, Our club chairman did ours and a very good job too.
  24. Barry, Make sure you report the outboard to StolenBoats and the details will get circulated. ( and of course the marine police ).
