  1. No Tom!!........nothing negative; I've been very impressed when on those club boats pushed along by them !! ......nearly as quiet as a 4-stroke .... and only a slight 'whiff' of oil at idle. And they do GO some!! I go with comments on both sides .... and wait [with interest ] to see how the 'service plan' pans out. I am amazed at such a 'heated' Forum! Alun.
  2. Hi Jim, From my pov, the trouble withPoole is how far you have to go !! You could try the Swash [if not too busy!!], Old Harry [if not too bumpy] or the Patches [if you want to lose tackle in the rocks!] Go out of Christchurch and the Ledge is just round the corner.... anchor in front of it [if fishing the flood] ... or drift over it. Huge area.......lots of fish holding \ catching potential. Beware of shallow areas around LW ... and wind over water when the tide is running!! .......and all the pot gear \ ropes in the water. Have fun!! Alun.
  3. Rag .......... are you fishing for wrasse??.... they like ragworm!! Terry..........not sure!!....Just think bass are nore choosy when there's plenty of food about! We got 5 bass yesterday [ nothing 'big'].......all when tide was slacker. 1 on feathers!, 2 on LW slack, 2 on HW slack ............BUT........ my crew lost a 'biggie' in the main flood. Plenty of mackerel around ........everywhere! Alun.
  4. .........or having to have it repaired!! I'll be interested to see reports when these E-tecs are 5 - 10 years old. I dipped into the forum and saw that E-tecs say 3 year service....if used in fresh water .......but annual if used in the sea. Good luck E-tec chaps....... some interesting reading there from the States!! Alun.
  5. Could be breezy [and damp ??] ??..........I've pulled the plug on tomorrow's plans. I was rather spoilt by yesterday ..... when the weather just got better and better[than the forecast]......... but fishing was slow for the bass. Alun.

    .......when's that then??[
  10. I caught one of those cuckoo wrasse out on the Rips sunday; didn't think to weigh it as it was only about a pound !! I didn't realise specimen weight was so low !! DOH! ........ it would have beaten my 10 - 12 pollack ! Lesson learnt! Alun.
  11. Gastronaught will be out......from about 7.30..... with two novice guests\family. It could be a proper spikey session......... or a 30 min macky trip before breakfast reappears!! ...........no idea ...... but will have Ch. 6 open. Good luck to you, Alun.
  12. Wish I could.........but not this one, as I'm being whisked off to London to a B.day party ....... in a fancy club!! Back to normality next week! Alun.
  13. Hey ... well done!! It's come on a lot in the last few days. ... and looking real quality as well !! ........would I expect any less from these experts???...and perfectionists! Looking forward to cracking the fizzy! Alun.
  14. Terry, I'll tell you when we next talk.
  15. Nice pics. .....but not for the squeemish !! ....... you wouldn't find this in Sea Angler! More evidence for my theory re. potting boats PJ.
  16. I simply resize my pics. in 'My pictures' to a small copy and that works fine. Alun.

    Recycle...

Not to be outdone by Adam's novelty with cod lures ... and noting the lack of success with the 'banana lure'.....Rob set about making an artificial banan skin lure using an old rubber glove from the bin. Cable-tied to a cheap leadhead hook [6 for
  18. Hydeaway hid out on the Rips.........after a stopover on a wreck en route. We all had a few cod on the former [ too small to count in a specimen comp! ... and plenty that went back] .... and a pollack each on the latter......... best went 10 lbs. 12 oz. to me .... but that won't win any prize! Thanks Mike for the trip.....I was just glad we put you on a few fish and all had a good day. A couple of pics to follow , tomorrow ..... when less tired. Alun.
  19. Rob, Mike Hyde and myself will be onMike's boat 'Hydeaway'......booking in. Alun.
  20. Hi Gordon, Hope you are having a good day ?...... you're not missing any fishing today!! Good luck next Sunday........hope the comp brings you a belated b.day pressie. Or you could buddy up with us to the Rips? Cheers, Alun.

  23. Dave , weather looking marginal......... see you at meeting tonight and confirm [or not!]. .......might just be a short session. Alun.
  24. Does that bump out the 'Family day afloat'? I'll be fishing....one way or the other.... if weather allows. Alun.
  25. Hoping there's a little calm slot early Friday morning to get out on the flood for a couple of hours bassing. I've made a few offers with no response.... so anyone wanting to wet a line [and get wet!] give me a call here or at tomorrow's meeting. Alun.
