  1. be surprised if the new engine has a wider gap than the existing and that as this represents transom thickness how are you going to fit a spacer in too? sensible to take into account now though - many don't think of it! you won't need a jack plate - that's for high performance deep v hulls where the variation of the height of the cavitation plate relative to the keel is trimmed to enhance performance - as opposed to (in conjunction with) trimming the angle. on one of my boats I had to turn the steering wheel over to one side to accomadate the last few inches of tilt in the engine well - but that's 'cos I had a 175 and the standard was a 125...........

    Graphics Project

ah well fortunately once you get your boat into a decent cruiser the last thing you want to do is go back and pick up anglers from (their) local quays so room for 2 to fish is fine!
  3. you clearly need a larger hacksaw in your tool kit...............
  4. hey Rich I have only fished 3 trips out on the boat this year and landed a turbot every time! .............. but the specimen weight just doesn't stack up for this comp. Gruffy - how about catching 2 x 12lb bass and returning 1 to win everything! Certainly not beyond the capabilities of some anglers here. Gars are certainly an interesting angle; one to ponder! and Bob - having never caught a flounder I wouldn't know where to start so I will leave that to the experts...............
  5. just for a bt of fun how about a round of 'predict the winning species' - as we seem to be in 'comp' mode on here recently! whilst torn between bull huss and undulate ray I think I would put my money on the undulate if pressed - unless the weather is extremely settled and flat calm in which case................
  6. sad isn't it - but then there's the imminent arrival of............
  7. well watch out 'cos I took my 660 down to Poole one day from it's Medway berth and I never went back - and that was nearly 6 years ago!
  8. yes good advice about numbers but do avoid the obvious easy to remember ones that could be established by a third party - ie telephone / dob if you want to create one that is secure then use a couple of seperate items and combine them in a routine that you can remember. One I used to use was 2F01n5 which is easy to recreate from 3 simple items - my house number, age (a few years ago) and initials. In the end I got used to it and can remember it now! The routine - x*y-(x*y) the initials translated by the preceding number when inserted, forename caps, surname small. However we get lax and use really simple ones as Paul had highlighted!
  9. that's great for those not planning to be away fishing this weekend............... ah well will look in next week and see how it all went ps I am only keen 'cos you sent me an email telling me to be all keen!
  10. I have been sitting here 8 1/2 hrs waiting; all of which has been Friday the 13th as far as mostof the world is concerned - what's going on? Technical failure eh?
  11. whilst someone will no doubt claim it's their personal secret mark........... ........... I thought this one was a pretty safe bet as 'public domain'.
  12. ah well Rich - they always sugest you keep your 'personal details' secure in a web environment!
  13. an interesting paradox............if I used my secure (it's good) password on any normal forum then I have no real knowledge you (the webmaster) are not simple viewing them ! if on the other hand I use a seperate secure pw for every place I set one up I will have to store them somewhere because my memory ain't that good. solution - forum specific or subject specific but generally simple and yes my identity here could be compromised but if anyone else want to pretend to be me and post an even better catch report then so be it............. carbon turbot barnacle (jim)
  14. i've listed it against the other post requesting numbers.............
  15. pollcck turn up all over but are obviously best targetted from either the reefs and ledges round west or the (some) wrecks - eg the Sky holds a load in the 5lb class. inshore tend to be smaller but fish to 3lbs are around rays are everywhere - may well head out this weekend to the area I know as the banks last visited Feb. Never seem to fish it in the summer at all! Alternatively Swanage Bay and the area off there holds nearly all the main ray species. Further West and undulates seem to predominate until you get past the influence of St Albans ledge when blondes are more fun........
  16. how can you say that with a straight face? I just get hoots of derision at home with lines like that.................
  17. thanks Tom - I was wondering if someone had the 2006 leaflet handy - like the one I have on the boat.........
  18. anyone know if the Lulworth ranges are firing this weekend?
  19. 1. I presume you are reciving the mail through a POP3 server somewhere - anything changed that might afect you relationship with the provider? Do you have a seperate STMP server for sending your mail or the same one? 2. Starting point it is the 'test' facility within Outlook - what happens when you go into the account settings and press 'test' - do you get the 5 or 6 green ticks?
  20. was looking to get out this weekend and first glance at the forecasts looked really encouraging - mainly 2's all the time. second glance showed them to be E and SE - all the time! should I just forget the fishing bit and right off a possible trip?

    Prop Testing

am going to suggest that you are now underpropped - somehow! how you have managed to go from 5500 to 6200 (in sloppy conditions) beats me unless the current test was no gear, no fuel and you have been on a diet I would run the old prop instead and save this one for when you want to go our in the summer 4 up and loaded with gear!
  22. phil - if you search this particual forum from the begining you will find many threads giving a large amount of comment on most of these boats - and comparing them - including contribution from some manufacturers.

    Ray

interesting at the weigh in - "you weight it in sir" "no no rules say you have to do it....."
  24. don't know yet - be a bit cheepskate if it wasn't loaded eh?
  25. oooooooh just seen that Southern Motor boats have put up a prize - which model is this going to be???????????? Wouldn't it be great if they could run to a 655?
