  1. so when you ring up and order things over the phone presumably you never ever give your security code, card number, expiry date.................to people whose name you will never know and you've never met? what I am trying to highlight is that most of this ends up pretty much public domain in the same way as your bank, account name, account number and sort code - all nicely pre printed on your cheques by the bank for you to give complete strangers! however the general principle of never giving anything to people who call you and ask for it is an excellent one!!!

    20-25k Boat

Jason my 2p make sure you are honest with yourself about what you want the boat - even go as far as writing down a wish list. This can be as wide as where you want to visit, normal number to be accomodated, min and max; family factors now and in the future ie is it only for fishing. Available resources - mechanical skills, wood, grp electrical electronic etc. when you have done this you can refine the above into a list of requirements against which to consider different boats, of different ages and condition. on th eother side of the coin, reading into your poasts so far, I can see an Aquafish 23 fitting the bill very well indeed.
  3. if he's wearing it - she isn't = sounds good to me.................
  4. exactly the sort of reason I have a caliper set in my tool box........but that's not a lot of use for you.................. if we are guessing I would go at 2.5mm and whilst KAm's suggestion is ingenious I suspect it would be prone to too much error because of the blue tacks ability to stretch............hmmmmm blue tack........... right tested method - take large blob of blue tack and press the rod tip area into it to create a groove which accurately reflects the width - don't try and unroll etc but simply measure across the groove carefully with a ruler. Sorted.
  5. that will be a 'D' then Sam?
  6. difficult job but their not getting it right for me so, like Kam, the sub lapsed and like Adam I'm not missing it.
  7. glad it's progressing Tom re camera boat - this would obviously depend on when! If it's a weekend I may be able to do it.

    Studland Ferry

    Southerly 8..............perfect then!
  9. I couldn't take another one yet Paul............... If you do go ahead and consign us to a wek of misery can I respectfully request that it's all available from the start and that the start date/time are published in advance..............please
  10. that's just the thread empathising with the prop Charlie........... safety first safety second ?
  11. a lot here - important to keep each component in context.......... re sea anchors and drogues - you wouldn't be using them under power...............trail an open floating line, possibly adding a fender if you don't have long lines? these are very much open water tactics of course
  12. all that effort - come on! just apply pressure to the end of a prop blade - if it can be moved through 120 degrees it's in neutral - if it locks really really solid it's not going into neutral.

    R.i.p. Sharky

    sorry to hear that bob
  14. not against safety Mike but surely you are not going to turnover a 60 hp outboard by trying to turn the prop by hand to see if it's in gear ie if it's in gear the prop just wont turn...........
  15. think I would start my investigation with the engine off and turning the prop by hand to see if it's in out of gear from time to time when indicating neutral.........however I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't know from feel if it was going into gear properly when you increased the throttle from the 2 knots your are experiencing or not
  16. moi - never..............I'm just pissed off with the weather like everyone else.............
  17. this politely explains why this shouldn't be perpetuated and this explains a little more about the origions although you can also research AT&T for the original issue and warning. beware - clicking on any of these links will result in
  18. lovely lovely logic.............. if you now bring the price of the engine in you should, in just a couple of paragraphs, be able to prove that the more fishing you do the cheaper it becomes!
  19. great report - well plugged away! glad to hear about the conger action - Dave only commented last year that we haven;t seen one since last winter when AlunJ was moaning so much about the damm things.............

    Lowrance.....

very strange - almost faultless performance from my older 15MT and new 3500C. I have heard that they have experienced issues with the smaller high powered duel function units - the ones with the DF transducers and the GPS modules. They are fine with the normal lower powered 'ducer but basically get a bit hot powering everything. 337DF or similar rings a bell. other than that ??????????

    Floatation Suit ?

I tend to use a golf jumper .............
  22. glad I didnt rush round to baiter with my 1lb 9oz pout just to get on the list! Leaves Gordon as sole occupant of 31st as well!
  23. very believable..........................
  24. you should be blackballed for such a statement sir - disgrace; utter disgrace. anyone could hit a 90% lsd, pout or gar just by getting lucky an 80% ray by sticking it out and keeping fresh bait in the water; on the bottom. why I will be entering the flatfish pool despite not having a worm on board the boat and only having (accidentially) caught 1 flounder in my life! - it's the spirit of the thing sir! on the other hand I do understand you point..............
  25. Alun - you just know you will be going for everything (except conger!) so just get on with it! Models I have been following have the weather increasingly localised in geographic and timing so it really will be last minute dot com however it will be between W and N so many fishable marks, and the lack of tide reduces the risk of any unexpected condition changes for the return trips! good luck everyone - probably not back on here until after the event now; not even back in the country yet let alone Poole!
