  1. Mike - looking at lunch in Chausey if the weather permits - Granville - Cherbourg planned for neaps!
  2. Thought we had had this out only recently? I agree with Tom, Adam, Coddy, Mike, etc - it's a matter of a whole load of factors. Personally I get about 4 pre ordained fishing trips a year - I elect for the 48 hr ('cos it;s the best chance to actually get some fishing in!) the Open (to support the club) Poole Cod comp (representing the club and small boats plus blowing the cobwebs away) and the flatfish/ray comp (well suited to our waters). It's not the fishng of a monthly per se; although the format has been discussed - it's more the committment to fish the series competitively. I have always 'entered' the monthly comp if on the water, and reported my catch, but I could no more enter the wider commitment than I could enter a golf 'league' when expecting to play 4 games a year. Adam is spot on, as reinforced by the other comments, the number of anglers in the club that are committed to anything beyond one off events hasn't changed. This doesn't necessarily represent any wider failing.
  3. couldn't comment as I don't have those all important patio doors! Mike what did you think of St Quay to visit? I am, weather permitting, planning to run Poole - St Peter Port - Tregieur - St Quay - St Malo - Granville - Cherbourg - Poole over the last week in August.............to make up for the last 2 weeks of frustration!
  4. starting to realise I am not doing things the same as you guys - clearly to my detriment! great report Adam - and don't forget Tom's used to a whole load of underwater gear that wouldn't appreciate 6"..................
  5. come on Adam - or are you getting some kip...............?
  6. I think you are mixing the Pt1 registration with Lloyds coding somehow? Pt1 is like Pt3 (SSR) but, as you highlight, commonly used only when marine mortgages are involved or a vessel is likely to be sold abraord when the registration can be used to prove ownership and lack of any financial interest - which part 3 can't. lloyds coding is used to indicate design and construction is it not? Gordon - Yep looks like it. Basically Hull identification serial numbers (HIN
  7. that will be interesting in itself - basically as they need to raise the money the developers are on to a winner. Once the powerstation site is 're developed' you have to wonder how long some of the businesses owning suitable land in that area will take before they sell up and really make money on their assets!
  8. since 1997 boats manufactured in Europe have a HIN in the transom and also in an undisclosed position within the structure - the manufacturer will have records. prior to that many manufacturers had hull numbers on the boat but they ofter got lost and or the manufacturers records got lost!
  9. well well Nice one Fred - wish I had known you were out I would have joined up. Been down 10 days and have fished 30 seconds........... Next couple of days don;t look great either although I have a pass to take a couple of the wife's friends out if I get a break. Anyhow - grreat fishing Fred

    Members Boats

ah but they will all be flying the flag now Coddy!!! maybe the 'flag' should be part of the joining process? Compulsory purchase process!
  13. looking very good CVharlie loved the 'Wendy got a galley' - you won't presumably be using it at all when she's not aboard then? beats putting the pasties on the engine to heat up in the winter............. have you got a tentative 'in commission' date yet?
  14. difficlt one for the skipper - you wonder when the decision was discussed but you can't blame a skipper under such circumstances. with a landed value around 800 it's a valuable fish as well
  15. Great catch Dan, nice to see them in your woods. Almost none showing at Rockley this year - amazing really. May be a result of all the dredging but you never know.
  16. Paul - if you find the mooring lines are too big for you let me know m8 and I will take them............. can't see 16mm fitting your cleats! ta
  17. cant remember which engine you have but Holes Bay MArine should be able to help if its merc/mariner

  20. just go round to New Forest Motor factors on the industrial estate about 1/2 mile from Makro.............. as already said a reasoable quality lead acid battery will do fine in that application. persoally if it costs

    Grease

oh god I am agreeing with mike again! I wouldn;t use copper grease in a marine envionment for exposed items anyway - regardless of the cost. maybe as an antifouling? but nowhere near metal. Mercruiser 2-4C is a teflon based grease for linkages - good general purpose The other 2 main greases applications are roller/ball bearings and splines - teflon based greases are not generally good for the former.
  24. definitely wasn't me (hopefully as helpfull as Tom's response.........)
  25. no ones got a 30/50lb class rod left Tom - they have all taken your posts so much to heart that they flogged all the big gear on ebay to buy 8lb class outfits for congering............... personally I will admit to having one set of suitable gear - but unfortunately no chance of Friday.................shame as I suspect you will have excellent chance of success following the heatwave conditions etc if you get the right breeze for your drifts. looking forward to the pictures very much.................
