  1. did you see my plaice in Sea Dangler

nope - can't have been that big..................... rolleyes.gif

    clearly instead of a single size limit on photo pixels we should have one weighted (hehehe) to fish size.............thus a 60lb conger could have 600 x 400, a 40lb tope 500 x 300 16lb undulate 300 x 150 and Badger's plaice..........a deserving 60 x 40 blink.gif

  2. going to argue the other way.............but only for alongside berths not swinging!

have kept all mine that way; 17 dory, 21 cuddy and now Phaeton.

Never left anything of value on board at all - but geting things on and off is nothing compared to trailering!

Still had trailer capability and used to go off to Loch Lomond (pike) Brittany (rocks) Plymouth (pollack), Spain (hot) and Poole (sunburn - so Jo made us move the boat there permanently) .............

On the one hand it's always been the largest annual cost of owning / running the boat - on the other it has enabled me to use it with the family (or fishing) when I want to.

Swinging mooring has the capability of being the worst of both worlds though.

Before anyone say's it - yes 200 a month is a lot of money; but some people pay 35 a month to Sky just to be able to watch some football sad.gif

  3. funnily enough I am now looking at Sunday and thinking I may well come down and fish the bream comp....................

OK it's going to be wet/miserable but SW3-4 is fine in the bay/patches/ledge - not so fine West though.

On the other hand the sea state is going to be generally sloppy from the next few days

  4. hey we managed only 5 doggies on the whole of Thursday.........hell of a long way to go for that! Just had to grit the teeth and try harder Friday.

it's a real pisser when the boats starting the same drifts with the same tactics etc manage the fish you don't. You know they are there!

  5. Even more reason for a club flag to display on our boats. A quick glance and we know who's who.

    nah - it's easy..............landing net in use = club boat rolleyes.gif

seriously I would be more than happy to purchase a club pennant were one to exist. May I tactfully suggest that it be pennant sized and any fundamentally any colours except blue/black or white................if you are close enough to read fancy art work you don't need it for recognition purposes!

Black on yellow or orange PBSBAC for example - although yellow could be confused with a Q flag so orange?

  6. you are welcome to my 45s, 78s adn even 33s............. rolleyes.gif

and anyway I only have one so please pick on someone who has been greedy and has more then one ........... although I appreciate it's rather difficult to selectively target brill rather than turbot. sad.gif

all the best - I'm not planning for that particular fish to stand long anyway!

  7. adding to Mike's post I make up a fixed pennel with a couple of fine aberdeen size 6s with this rig.

As much as anything it allows me to thread the worm section up the lower hook and get a firm hold in it's head with the top one - survives casting better and hooks up well on the 'nibbles' from the mullet. Agree 1" of worm seems the optimum - but I don't know why!

  8. The was a 16 8 Undulate taken in inshore club waters last week too - looks like the rays are feeding again now the mackerel are in.

It's that time of year when you are spoilt for choice on what to target in our waters..........what a shame!

  9. I would really appreciate sight of the one for the west of the Anvil - can't find it in any of my Sea or Boat angler????????? please?

Re Poole Bay I haven't seen one, and whilst we started on one on here it never really took off..........tiem to revisit?

  10. basically the fish move with the tide - on a flood they are the other side of the brifge - on the ebb they are sitting around the pontoons etc in ambush.

Yet to see how the dredging effects things.

However - it's not really accessable for fishing! Pontoons are a no no and security has been beefed up significantly; more to be implemented yet.

The new holding pontoon arrangements prevent access from the 'undeveloped' shoreline and access to the bridge itself is being prevented.

The revised layout also restricts / prevents some of the older 'pick ups' for boats too.

Personally it believe that if you have a boat the area around the marine camp is significantly more productive for quality and quantity although of course restrictions on bass fishing from a boat apply all around that area (and most of the harbour!)

Catfish proved too strong for fisherman

    Fish Drags Man To Death

    Updated: 11:47, Wednesday May 10, 2006

A Hungarian fisherman has drowned while trying to catch a 150lb catfish.

Gabor Komlosy was dragged into a river when he refused to let go of the line.

The 53-year-old's body was later pulled from the Szamos river still clinging to his rod.

The 4ft monster catfish was still hooked on the end. Police in Hungary believe he had been yanked down the bank of the river by the fish.

It had then pulled him through the water until he hit his head on a rock and drowned.

A spokesman said: "When we pulled in his line, the fish was still stuck on the end."
