  1. I'm not a charter man, myself, but Pete jnr would be a good man to answer.

There's plenty of good boats going out of Poole.

Look throught the Charter Boat link on the front page of the web site.

  2. Hmmm...I thought we agreed at a club meeting that we didn't have to give sizes, for a couple of reasons:

1 - to encourage more people to record their fish (some people were not bothering to record them because they were emabrrassed by the size).

2 - it was not just the size of the fish we were bothered about. We also wanted a record of what was being caught throughout the season and how frequently.

  3. Thanks Mike, Charlie.

Yes, it's basically for bait. I've tried the drop net, but wasn't too successful. It's a bit of a pain having to wait for slack water all the time, but I'll give it a go again.

    cheers

  5. You'll have to experiment with the various positions. Mine rests about 2 knotches up. The engine drags through the water when off the plane but is clear when on the plane.

Actually, it would have been better to put sealant in the holes when you were inserting the bolts to give a better seal.

  6. Do you need a license to put down a crab pot?

Are there areas where only licensed potters can set their pots?

Can I lay a pot in the viscinity of other pots?

Is there a minimum size of bouy that is used to mark a pot or any identifying feature that tells you that it is a pot bouy?

  7. Not sure I want to tell little Robert that. He's getting a bit too cocky for my liking.

But the most annoying thing is that I give him all the old, knocked about, knackered rods and reels with rusty hooks, and he still catches more than me!!! mad.gif

He just drops a bait over the side, disappears in the cuddy for a snooze and wakes up just in time to see his rod nodding. dry.gifblink.gif

How do you figure that??!! ph34r.gif

  8. Careful, Alun. You seem to be getting a bit trigger happy!! laugh.giflaugh.gif

Wouldn't mind some of that action myself.

Adam and I are going out on Splash-Out tomorrow evening/night for a spot of sole fishing. Might give the triggers a go before the light goes.

  9. ...but the bad news for James is that he didn't win the match, so this could have put him out of contension for the BFM/Suzuki competition. That's a real shame. weep.gif

Young Robert and I went out of Wick on Splash-Out. We didn't bother venturing out to battle the seas, and just stayed in the harbour to fish for bass and mullet.

We soon got our quota of Bass (only small ones), and then moved back up the river to target the mullet.

A bit of groundbait soon got the mullet on the feed and we had our quota of mullet before lunch time. After lunch the tide turned and it all went quiet. We then struggled to even get a bite. Just had the smallest Mullet I've seen on a spinner.

    Packed up around 2:30.

    Final tally:

    Bob F - 4 Bass, 4 (5) mullet

    Rob F - 4 bass, mullet
