  1. Kam - sounds good - have you been out? If so what is the prefered technique to catch some fish fingers in a slippery package?

    Rob

It was supposed to be a half and half bass and bream trip. The bass didn't play ball so spent some of the bass time on cod and turbot result in 4 cod in 3 drifts and 3 turbot in 2 drifts.

The breaming was bad too, wished we had spent the bream time on the cod too, but others wanted to go breaming.

  2. Don't know about sharking, but when I was fishing for 100+ conger over the French side (didn't get one that big mind you), the skipper swears on using mono and one guy who was using mono had no lost fish, even tho one of his fish was near the magic number.

  3. I have this mackeral fishing sussed out now.

If you want maccy, you really need to arm yourself with breaming gear and squid and keep telling yourself you are going breaming. Then magically the maccy will arrive. cool.gif

  4. well i certainly didn't know what a whale tail was until i did a search!

    Thanks.

  6. Bloody hell..... the big 40 crips up on you with no time at all. tongue.gif

This reminds me of a prog I watched some years back about Easter Island. Apparently it once had a lush forest, but people needed firewood in the process of splitting large rock into smaller one which they then made into the famous statues, so trees were cut down one after the other until eventually all were gone. The prog maker then said:'When they cut down the last tree, they must had realised it was the last tree on the island yet they cut it down......'

So I guess human haven't evolved much over the centuaries.

  8. The second is ST1211 You are correct they are made in Taiwan to Japanese Spec I have others which I have used and stripped to inspect they are made to a very high standard being out of one piece billet so are very strongly constructed with stainless bearings and are sold through Pelagic Australia/America.

My SHIMANO`S are made in Malaysia

I personally like these reels as I`m finding others at same money are plastic or very thin ally side plates that corrode very quickly, having said that my ABU LD BG is still going because I regularly strip and clean and coat inside side plates with waterpoof wheel bearing grease.

Any questions please ask or if anybody would just like to see them let me know and I`ll take them to the meet

    Cheers Nigel

P.S if anybody is interested I will do a full money back if they do break

I wasn't dissing the reels, from the reveiws on the net, they aren't bad reels, just short off Avet quality (which incidentally is what they are copied from) but at 2/3 the price.

Just wondering what physical size is the left hand one?

  9. Omoto and Pelagic are the makes

Am I right in saying the one on the left is ....

PELAGIC ZORRO ST100Z-2 SPD LEVER DRAG JIGGING GAME REEL

The second one looks like ....

POSEIDON S I/II SPEED LD SERIES

    What size are these reels?

I think they are made in Taiwan rather than Australia.

  10. Thanks for all your support.

To anyone who is interested we have to film over 2 days on the 18th and 19th of March but if we know in advance we may be able to change those days slightly if we get permission from our tutor.

If you think you want to help either contact me directly through my contact detail in the 1st message or through Paul Jennings, club chairman.

    Thank you again

    Jack

I too would like advance notice if my next fishing tripon the 9th of March will go ahead or not...... tongue.gif

Seriously Jack, fishing is dictate by the weather god and there's not way of telling what the weather will be like on the 18/19th, even with 2 days to go it can change drasticly.

    Good luck tho.

  11. probably too big for me, i was looking at Honda CRV size or similar,

trying to get 40mpg if possible......also thought about VW Passat or Saab diesel models.

what are your thoughts on these type???

    Cheers anyway

    Gary

I'm pretty sure the Passat's legal towing weigh is only 1600kg. Nevertheless a cracking car, economical and comfy to drive.
