  1. If by any chance anyone is attending the boat show, will you please enquire about a basic 150 with/wo trailer and let me know price, i've been told discounts available there. I, unfortunately am not in a position to attend myself so if someone can do the donkey work i'll sort you out with a bag of carrots for your efforts!, if you can obtain a fixed price of 2k with a trailer then maybe I could stretch to a pint and a packet of ready salted Seriously tho' , I have toyed with the idea of buying the boat/trailer then getting an engine when conditions allow, so if you can.............would be much appreciated. Incidentally Adam, got a sample of the P/carb, give me a bell and i'll arrange to post down to you. Regards, Duncan.
  2. I've not been boating long and i've had problems with both my second hand engines, on the one hand I keep telling myself to take the sensible option and plump for a less suitable boat,(but nearly new engine), while on the other I know the Warrior makes sense but it does have an old engine on it!!...pain in the ass!!!, if it did go bang I would well and truly be knackered...only option if I did get problems is another s/h unit!....the dilemma goes on........... With regards to the polycarb sheets, they usually come in 8' x 4' sheets in various grades and thickness's, if you were to use your current 'windows' as patterns they would be easy to cut to shape and re-drill. Let me know the thickness of yours and i'll get a price, goes without saying that what it costs the company, it will cost you. Might be able to supply smaller sheets,...like I said get the thickness and let me know. My mobile is 07967807117, Cheers Duncan.
  3. Coddy, just so happens that's the one i'm going to have a look at, i've had some additional pic's sent from Youngs and there isn't a great deal that can't be put right....only stumbling block is the engine, I have spoken to the broker about it and he assures me all is well, just the boat that needs sorting, much of that is minor. I remain sceptical until I can view it in the flesh and hear the motor run up but it looks a possibility . The most expensive repair may well be the p/carb windows but I can source material thru' work so no prob's there.
  4. Right then........I took your advice guys, and carried on searching for what seemed at the time to be a quest for a hens tooth capped in gold, however a Warrior 165 has cropped up which I will be looking at perhaps the weekend, I will post again to let you know the outcome of my endeavours....incidentally I spoke to a chap who recently sold a Trooper and bought a Warrior and according to him the differences are night and day with regards to the overall ability of the boats when compared back to back as he had opportunity to do. Anyway I know I keep thanking you for your input but here goes............thanks again. Regards, Duncan.
  5. That helps, a few others i've talked to, with limited experience, have voiced the same opinion on Force....well similar in as much as crap equates to shit,f**+ing shit,etc.....it appears that the general idea is leave alone, so i'll take heed. Thanks for your views, appreciated. Regards, Duncan
  6. Dear All, I am looking to upgrade my boat and the choices are either a Seahog Seajeep or Trooper, the Seajeep is only a couple of years old while the Trooper is about 6 years old....the 'Jeep has a 40 Tohatsu (20 hrs), while the Trooper has a 50hp Force engine. There seems little difference between the two on paper.......now, any of you rabble any info' you can share on these two?? I will leave in your capable mitts for a reply, incidentally the boat will be used primarily inshore for now, but who knows in time... Regards, Duncan.
  7. Thanks guys, the old engine is gone...the 'new' one is a '94 30hp Suzuki with seperate oil tank, the idea of using it more so when mixed with neat fuel seems like a good idea , and yep I did use to have old two strokes.....lots of 'em, every time I start the boat up the smell reminds me of back then,..those were the days eh?..blasting along on an X7 , girl clinging on, lovely ! Anyway once again your replies were appreciated and i'll let you know what the outcome is, Keep 'em tight, Duncan.
  8. Hi all, hope your all looking forward to the weekend's weather, 'bout time !! If anyone could answer me this problem i'd be grateful....I have just sold a Yamaha 25hp but the buyer didn't want the tank, which is full to the brim with 100/1 fuel/oil mix, my replacement engine has a seperate oil tank so do I use or bin it !??, I realise that the additional oil may cause some smoking but would such a light mix cause any problems?, call me tight if you wish but it seems a shame to dispose of 25ltrs. Best to you all, Duncan.
  9. PS Adam, is that a Warrior in the picture of what i assume is your boat??, if so are they really as good as everyone seems to say?
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Yep, I intend to visit and have a look see every time I get chance so i'm sure i'll slowly get to grips with things. Seems the weather's a bit dodgy the weekend, atleast for the marks i've fished up till now, so if any of you guys are venturing out have fun and enjoy ! Cheers all Duncan.
  11. Hello all, i'm new to small boat angling...have been shore fishing for 20 years, mainly in the Bristol Channel but recently decided to take the plunge and get a small fishing boat, (Marina 14'6", Yamaha 25hp, all the usual kit etc.), i've been out from Weymouth and 3 times from West Bay...caught plenty of mackeral, dogfish, scad and gurnard but looking for advice on where to fish. I will be going to fish off Portland with a mate soon but would like some information on Poole and the surrounding areas. Also I can't seem to find any information on my boat re: max engine size etc. , so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Sorry to be a bit vague but this is all new to me so bear with me! By the way, my name is Duncan and I live in the south of Bristol, and No i don't fancy venturing into the Channel just yet
