  1. limpets are top bass baits fished by its self. Put loads on a hook, something like a 2/0 and load whack a shed load of bait elastic around it to keep it on and to assist with it as an oozing mess. The wrass will no doubt enjoy and i suspect the hounds may be up for it too. Loads of the lads fishing mudeford harbour wall for the bass are on it at we speak. wink.gif

  2. i been looking at getting some u bolts, but the size seems to be an issue as the axel is rather chunky....i need an inside measurment of 100mm with a length of a minimum of 150mm....everyone i have looked at seems slightly to small mad.gif

  3. right the work on the new trailor is comming along nicely, but i now need to secure the base of the trailor to the axel. The axel was never actually welded, but had some kind of heavy duty clamps keeping it together. Does anyone know what these kind of clamps are called?

    Cheers,

    Dan

  4. sorry guys- not fishing related, but afetr some help.

  5. Just got myself a roller coaster trailer for my boat (well getting next week) that isn't complete. It just needs a new axel that i already have fitted which shouldn't be a problem. The trailer is in decent nick, but i just want to replace some of the rollers. Where is the best place to look and how much are they?

This msg is being sent from my phone and thats the only net i have now, and browsing sites take an age, so if you can just post some prices that would be awsome. I paid 50quid for it and the frame seems sound. Just need to get it road worthy now tongue.gif

  6. well thanks to vince, as he posted the number for christchurch moorings, i now plan on getting my name down as ive downloaded the form....3-6 month waiting list and pay by direct debit! i have a trailer in the meantime...thanks trev....so all is looking up!

  7. um....no paul laugh.gif .....the weighing type! wink.gif

Rob....from the shore its peeler all the way mate, although from the boat squid works well....i have lots of mates who are competition anglers and there always down sowely/lepe/parkshore etc and they hammer them on crab.

  8. caught whilst sat on a mooring pontoon among the boats, i was using a tiny size 2 aberdeen, small pieces of broken ragworm, and dangling the bait of the edge of the pontoon with a one oz bomb. I was catching tiny 4 inch schoolies that were swimming amongst the the masses of mullet. All of a sudded the rods nearly ripped out of my hand before 40 yards of line hammers from the reel. 20 mins later a jumbo starry smoothound is banked. It was hooked that far up river that a hound was the last thing i was thinking of catching, and it made a nice change to a 3oz schoolie and crabs laugh.gif

effing jammy, but i'll post the pic later...

  9. stour, although i took a barbel from avon the day before. trev, the trailer has completely rusted through and is unsafe. We attempted to weld it but the rust is that bad that it just wouldnt take. The trailor is disintegrating. I dont think it wil be until the new yr until i get one as redundancy is looming. Hopefully il crew 4 others but theres nothing like getting a result on your own boat though.

  10. ........and it's made Dan smile !!  He looks so serious in most photos !!  ??

well, its funny you should say that alun as the bloke taking the pic said smile you moody git...lol....and thats true....lol

Trev, your right, and i always get a bit lucky, but I've done well as i've had plenty of doubles in the last 2 years, but im happy as that is a pb..just....but hoping for a real lump in the winter. I never really done much bassing for whatever reason, so i need to do it a bit more as i'd love a big spikey.....right..thats the aim before the season is out......but i can only crew as my boat is out of action mad.gifmad.gif

  12. diawa vitesse 8lb tc 7ft....i have had a pair for 18 months and they are amazing......superb action, and among the most stunning looking rods ive seen....great value aswel! I have footage of me playing a 15lb thornie in a screaming tide somewhere! What an action!

  13. well, my poor old trailer has finally given, as its just not safe to use sad.gif . it has rusted out bug time, but there is a few bits i can take off and reuse.

I am looking to make my own trailer, but an wondering where is the best place to get some metal to make the axel. It would need to fit a boat of 18ft. Also, how much would the metal cost? An old mate of mine made his, but i have lost his details so i can't contact him to ask, although he said it was fairly straight forward. I can get my hands on welding kit, i have decent new suspension units, but i just need to get some bits to start putting it together.
