  1. That is an impact radial star crack but it looks to me that the impact may have been from the inside.

Any way the crack will be right through the gell coat and there are two ways of dealing with it. The proper (expensive) way which will end up with an invisable repair or a decent job that you can do yourself but will be visible if you look closely.

  2. I am looking for an aerial too and have done a lot of web price checking. The best deal I can find is on my doorstep at West Quay Marine who have got them from

As a kid I lived near Bushy Park Middlesex. This had a huge American air support base. Their other base near London was High Wycombe or as we kids who hung around to cadge 'real' CocaCola used to hear them say Hi Weee Kombeee.

PS thanks for the offer but Hi Wee Kombee is a bit far to go. But next time your down and you want to bring some, gissus a shout and we can do a deal.

  4. Has anyone got an old tube fender surplus to requirements?

I am looking for one that I can use on the pontoon as a front buffer for the new boat.

I know I could use an old tyre but I was hoping to be a bit more 'posh' .

  5. I have a crudely made but but effective 4 wheeled O/B stand for sale.

It looks like an inverted T, with a wheel at each corner two of which are fully swiveling. It's made out of strong angle and box section and will hold up to a 25hp O/B.

  7. I think the second picture suffers because it is brightly side lit. There is too much glare on the left of the picture causing the cameras exposure 'brain' to average out. Turning the boat slightly to starboard would have improved the picture.

  8. That's great Martin, it wont be untill April I guess and it would be good to pick a bright weekend for the light. Shall we firm up something nearer the time with idealy a weeks notice? And as I said before the more the better because I think a flotilla shot would be the 'dog's' spectacles.

  9. ........but will you go fishing Mike??

Oh certainly, we are expecting to fish more, particularly afternoon/evenings mid week. Launch and then recovering was a bit of a drag which was one of the things that prompted the upgrade. Also the very real posibility of overnighting on board leads to a good chance of going out on a Friday night and back on a Saturday evening when the weather improves.

I must say we are getting very excited about getting her and familiarizing ourselves with her. If my memory serves the first engine service is at 20 hrs, and we would like to run her in and get the service done before the season proper starts.

Just a thought by the way. Is there any chance of arranging a mutual photo session one sunny day on a you click mine and I'll click yours basis? It could be fun if several of us got together, and even more fun if we could get some flotilla shots for the web site.

  10. With Pride of Morpork all cleaned and spotless waiting to be sold, and Pride of Morpok II not available until 22 March, a gap has appeared in my 'things to tat around and do' list that retired blokes get their days filled by. I have read the Merry Fisher spec about 100 times, the Suzuki brochure 98 times, varnished me boat hook, bought a pile of goodies to go on the new boat, sat and sorted them out, cleaned and checked my tackle (Steady there in the back row!) Fishing Tackle!!! and am now bored.

So to the sad bit. A bright and sunny morning so I went down to Cobbs to look at the berth they allocated to us. I had preveously explained about my problem walking too far and shown them my blue card to prove the point. What a nice bunch of people they are turning out to be! They have given us a berth on F pontoon about 30 foot from the entry gate, bang next to power and the fresh water hose.

How sad? Two grown men and Carol grinning like loons stareing at a patch of water and imagining the hole in it that our new boat will fit in!

Any way it's a lovely berth facing on to the back of Holes bay which in the summer should give some nice views for those evenings that one just wants to sit and chill.
