  2. Non! Un Grande Moteur Essence et puissance de cheval 115 Merd ! Il en faillite je mais pensez au plaisir Mike fou
  3. Well it would appear that our little syndicate will be in a finger berth at Cobbs on a beautiful French nouveau bateau as yet to be named. We have done this purely because we catch far far less fish than anyone else, and now we have the excuse that we don't want to mess up a new boat Mad Mike
  4. Erm? And the whiting to co-opperate? Mad Mike
  5. Tom cajoles..... PS: The kettle is always on. A note of warning...People have been seen going into his office BUT FEWER PEOPLE EVER COME OUT!!!! AND He is never short of meat paste sarnies!!! Mad Mike
  6. All the 18' to 25' Pilot House's by various manufacturers are represented, which is why I am going. Normaly however I avoid any London trip/event. Mad Mike
  7. clearly the answer is no - you don't have to use either you may choose to however now just go back to your boat/engine dilemma Mike ffs Duncan!!!! ROTFPMP You've been reading the quotes of Oscar Wild again haven't you
  8. Cheers Kam, I hope your right Mad Mike
  9. Martin claims...I would rather fish with a quality rod action than a stick of rhubarb Do you have to put custard or horse shit on either to improve the event? Mad Mike
  10. Serious question.... The London traffic shouldn't be too bad early on a Saturday morning should it???? Mad mike
  11. I've often wondered?? Does a more expensive (better?) rod catch more expensive and better fish? Mad Mike I remember the story of Yahudy Menhuine (however it's spelt) a world famous violinist. He played an immaculate overture for Violin on his world famous Stradavarious Violin which was worth over $2000000, in front of a huge audiance at the Carnegie in New York. After the 5 minutes of raptuous applause died down, he paused and then smashed the violin to pieces on the floor. In the following silence he said.......... "I bought the violin this afternoon at Boosy and Hawks on 5th for $100. Ladies and gentlemen it is the player that makes the music not the violin" Justa thought
  12. jus thought id say! hav a fun 2 hr+ drive thru london! WHAT! We all use the short cut. Don't you know it then? Mad Mike
  13. At the moment no! No Joke!! The syndicate (Mark and I + Carol) have decided to go to the boat show and look again at the 21ft wheelhouse fisher range offered by various manufacturers. We are still 95% posative on the Quicksniveler and more than likely the Merc 4 stroke if it is a '07 model with the Verado mods. However we feel that we must at the end of the day be able to say we did our homework and reviewed everything that was on the market. Not sure of which day we will go but there could be a spare seat in the car if anyone wants a cheap round trip. Mad Mike
  14. I think you have summed up this line of discussion nicely Paul. And Oh Boy do some get off thread even when asked a simple question. Mad Mike
  15. HI Mark and Happy new year etc. I got it OK, I discovered it hiding in my spam stopper because it did not recognise your address. Now I have it and read it it has caused further research, some of which sugests that the Quicksilver dealer in Poole is not the most 'proactive, get in there and fight your corner', dealer one could want. Another Qksliver owner who bought in Essex had is boat changed by the dealer even after a year of less probs than you did, and they threw in a load of goodies on the new boat as compensation for the problems. Mad Mike
  16. You'll never catch mackerel at that speed mate Mad Mike And while I'm at it a happy and catchfull (new G dubya Bush word) new year to you and everyone on near or by PBSBFC Mad Mike PS I s'pose when we get a
  17. but then - anything can happen..................... You said it Duncan I was not getting paranoid as I was there already Any way .... I was suprised that Outboard 2 strokes were targeted in the first place. Looking at the Diesel clouds still exuded by lorries all over Europe I would have thought they would have been a more worthwhile target. A bit like TBT antifoul, banned for pleasure boating yet still used by the million gallons for most of the worlds commercial shipping. At the time I remember reading that the whole of the UK's leisure industries use of TBT amounted to one annual repaint for a Very Large Container Ship that one could see gliding up Southampton Water. 18. It was not the supplier making the point Kam, it was a member of another boat fishing forum. And I think he made a fair point in as much as local councils and local authorities are often hijacked by very PC left wing prats. It is entierly concievable that say Purbeck council bans all 2 strokes from the waters they have control over. The sort of people that would support such a ban are not so rational that they would understand the difference between an Etec and a 2t. Mad Mike
  19. Adam says........ Non generation 2 stokes - Etec etc can be as can the Optimax etc... Apparantly this is or may become a grey area. The person that I got the info from made a very interesting point, namely......... Are we boat owners and users going to be put upon by ill informed bureaucrats and local councils pushing a green world for political milage, who might be persuaded to blanket ban all 2 strokes? Answers on a
  20. Ah I should have said ...... The pre 2007 range of the Quicksilver 640 configuration were rated to 115hp BUT the 2007 is only rated at 100hp. Why? No one seems to know???????? Mad Mike PS what is this I hear about the sale of 2 strokes not already in stock at the dealer being being banned as of 1.1.07? Also that some authorities (Thames Water, National Trust, Norfolk Broads and some councils) have or are banning the use of 2 strokes on the waters they control ? Mad Mike
  21. Engine aside the reason for the choice of the Quicksilver 640 was the vast deck space aft of the wheelhouse compared to other boats in it's class, the high level of 'standard' equipment, the interior finish (as seen on the various boats). We would love to have put a Jeannau on our short list but the deck space Vs cabin space ratio is inverse that of the Quicksilver. ie Smaller deck bigger cabin. unfortunately we have not been able to talk to Tom as a sign on his office says he is not back untill the 3rd Jan. As for the engine,it depends on whether the dealers offer makes the Mercury the mandatory engine within the offer or not. I am VERY reluctant to go ahead with the Mercury 4 stroke. But how do you guys rate the Mercury Optimax range? Mad Mike
  22. Mark B ........mike i have sent you the letter I haven't seen it yet Mark, was it a PM or an email? Mad Mike
  23. Cost effectively ? Yes if you DIY Easily ? Yes if you don't mind a bit of, indoors by the fire, work. How? What is the rod made of, how is the grip constructed, 2 part either side of the reel mount, or one part with the reel mount forward of the grip, what is the grip made of ??????????????????????????? OR If you want a quick relatively cheap fix, fill the chewed out area with Isopon filler and sand level when set. Then buy some 'Self Amalgamating Rubber tape' and spiraly bind over the area (VERY TIGHTLY) stretching out the tape to triple or even 4 times (can't spell quadruple) its length as you go along. Do 2 layers. The Self amalg' tape will shrink back on it's self and amalgamate into a solid mono sheath. I did a quick fix on a rod 20 years ago and it's still looks fine. Whiz it round if you want Mike and I'll have a look see. Mad Mike
  24. Garmin 76 here if you want a loan of it. Mad Mike
  25. I stand in awe Fred What a huge enterprise, I had not realised just how big a job you were accomplishing. You are going to feel mighty proud (and justifiably so) When you see her in the water for the first time. Are you going to have a proper launching ceremony? ANy way in the mean time well done, as I said I am truely in awe of such an enterprise carried out to such a highe standard. Mad Mike PS Name? .........Miss O'nimpossible
