  1. Twin bridge is given the go-ahead Councillors hope the bridge will help cut traffic congestion A second harbour crossing in Poole in Dorset looks set to go ahead after a
  2. Do you mean regestered at Lloyds of London? that only happens if the boat is subject to a marine mortgage ( ie very expensive). I seem to remember the value is divided into 64th and the mortgager has so-many 64th and the mortgagee has the rest. Mad Mike
  3. Peverill? Mad Mike
  4. Going out of Poole tomorrow. Neap tide not a lot of water movement, any one got any ideas? Mad Mike
  5. The funniest thing I have seen for a long time. Thank you It is now winging it's way around the world as I have passed it on to several continents including back to Oz. Mad Mike
  6. As Paul says... unless you have your own personal courier I got mine from sales@emarineworld.com in California who's price is $169.95 for the ST1290-60's inc free P&P to a US mainland address. Extra for UK of course but I was lucky enough to have a friend coming over from the US and had it posted from So Cal to NY. Currently at todays exchange rate the UK charge on your credit card for the $ transaction would be
  7. Manic says.....just bring a couple of thick rods When I first read this without my glasses I thought it said a couple of thick sods. Well, I thought, he is asking in the right place Mad Mike
  8. Also an extra pair of hands will help alot when offering it up to mark the position! I know, we really should have evolved with four arms shouldn't we I was going to use a variable bevel set to 25deg and block it up to the hull with a length of wood so as to leave two hands free. Either that of a sky hook! Mad Mike
  9. Thank you Adam, I will probably use those as a starting point, but do you have a bait tank ? I don't so will the lighter stern make much of a difference? Suck it and see I s'pose is the answer. Mad Mike
  10. The method you described Adam was the best solution that I could come up with too. However it is nice to know that those who know used the same method. I seem to remember you did yours when the weather was brass monkeys I hope to do my adjustments on a hot summers day as I have not got the fortitude that fit blokes like you have Mad Mike
  11. Gazza, now I have got them and had a look they seem to be almost fool proof to fit (I guess I will be the ultimate test of that), so further fitting advice is not needed but thank you for your kind offer. I guess the tricky bit is getting the setting right and I also guess that that depends on the actual boat. How one achieves adjusting to the right setting is a little baffling to me apart from hanging over the back end with spanner in one hand and screwdriver in the other between each test run? Mad Mike
  12. Evening ? Cos they'll be on by Saturday Mad Mike PS you claim paranoia but think about it are you paranoid enough
  13. Tomorrow afternoon OK ? Mad Mike
  14. Poor begger How ? Mad Mike
  15. My set of Smart tabs 1290-60 are here now and awaiting fitting. Would you like to see them and offer them up to the blunt end so you could see where the would fit? Bearing in mind Adams advise that they should be fitted as far outboard as pos', if this was done on your boat that would place one slap bang on the transducer position. Therefor you would need to locate the transducer more inboard towards the center line. Mad Mike
  16. With respect Kam to just run it down the road to launch at Poole it does not NEED a braked trailer. It might be nice to have it braked but definitely need? No Sir. Mad Mike Mike You are incorect with your assumption. Legally if your rig weighs more that 750kg it HAS to be braked that is the law. Also although your trailer doesnt need an mot it must be in a roadworthy condition ie:if brakes fitted they must work correctly and the trailer must not be falling apart Martin Firstly I doubt that the all up of Charlies outfit is more than 1650lbs and secondly perhaps I was not making my self clear. You do not NEED to have a braked trailer in as much as it will do the job legal or not to do short local trips. I expect to jinx my self by saying this but I have never been stopped and have never had a braked trailer with brakes that worked. However Charlies trailer is a cracking job with all the right gear. What I was trying to say was that if the brake parts were hard to source/and or Very expensive and one still wanted to use the boat one could do the job using the trailer with no brakes fitted. 18. 155/70 R12.? What you have aint necessarily what you need as replacements. 90% of 1.55 /12 will do for a boat on a trailer. And I agree with Paul, are brakes realy necessary for your intended regular use? If you definatly want brakes I am sure they can be sourced at a reasonable price via more informed people than the lads at SMC, or if you go the cleaning route get some 'brick cleaning spray' from a builders merchant (dilute hydrochloric acid) and spray the rusty metal, leave for 10 min' and scrub off with plenty of water. You'll end up with the metal a sort of black colour which is Ferric Oxide. Feric Oxide is a rust inhibitor in its own right, but a splash of Hammerite completes the job. Mad Mike
  19. Bearings ..... Just up the road from you near the traffic lights 'Ashley Bearings'. Take one of the old ones as a pattern. (inner bearings might be a different size to the outer) Tyres..... Try Trents for a quote on a new but cheapy, the people I use are Kinson tyres (handy for me and never beaten on price) phone them with your lowest quote and they will usualy beat it. I bought one for my trailer for
  20. Before some one blows a gasket here let's try a little logic. First of all we are all entitled to our OPINION and the freedom to hold it and voice it. Fred says ....accuse people like admin edit names deleted of smuggling before they go to court... Well that is how our justice system works we the people accuse somone via the D of PP, they are presumed innocent untill a jury delivers a verdict. However the whole process begins with an accusation. Fred also says....... so you think its ok to shoot people in a pannick in tube stations....... Well in MY opinion YES, taking into account ALL the tragic circumstances surrounding the shooting. Nowhere in the world is there a perfect society. These are dangerous times and we are ALL at risk from the direct actions of terrorists and more importantly the peripheral situations that arise from a heightend state of alert and present danger. If the man had been a terrorist with a backpack of Semtex who had gone on to kill 50 or 60 people amongst whom one had a loved one I imagine one would have a very different view if the armed poilce officers excuse for not stopping him was "Well we weren't sure" So why not take a step back from all the histrionics and let this argument die a natural death. Mad Mike
  21. That's very kind of you. May I PM you on Monday so we can arrange. Our American visitor arrives tomorrow (with trim tabs) and I expect I will end up very drunk by tea time As we are having a bit of a bash to welcome her. Mad Mike
  22. Now there's an offer you can't refuse! Coddy 'Honi Soir Qui Mal y pense' Mad Mike
