Yes, I too get a smoother ride in rough seas with the wings.
Bob F.
And I thought it was Red Bull or thoses ladies things only had wings
Coddy
Oh bugger! You mean I shouldn't have fitted those white do-dads I found in the bathroom.

Us old Florida hands try to act cool by talking about The Mouse as the Floridians refer to the whole Disney thing, Far far better for dads is to con the family into a trip to Daytona beach. Talk about babe central. Naturaly you will be telling the family that you are inspecting the beach and it's environs as a suitable venue for a bit of beach casting. But OH Boy the babes. Mind you it's also a good idea to keep an eye on the wife......... Daytona also has it's own Muscle Beach and there are some pretty fit dudes and more pecs than you could shake a stick at.

Trouble is, is that A lot of English people see the rape of our seas by forign trawlers as dispicable. but, when you ask them to do something posative themselves they 'Don't want to get involved'.
Yet if say the French farmers want to kick up a fuss half of bloody France turns up to block the ports.
Which makes me wonder if we would have the nerve to block the Haven to make a point. I am not sugesting we do, just speculating if we would??

Just plain fat or fat and short?
Short is a relative term, any way I find tall people look down on me.
Mad Mike

See, I said they worked
If the ones you tried first came off a big engine they probably would have created too much lift and caused the problem you first experianced.
15kts eh! I'm glad your getting near that 22kt claim Orkney make. Don't alter the trim what you need is a fat bugger sitting up front. Know anybody that might do?

We're intending to spend a week around Miami next year, before we drive up to Orlando for the Theme Parks. Hope to wet a line or two.
What's best to do? Hire a small dinghy for a day or go out in a charter boat? Pros and cons for both I suppose.
Bob F.
May-mi is geting quite expensive on the charter scene. I would sugest that you go futher up the coast to get a cheaper charter and the best deal is to offer to make up the numbers on a low occupancy charter.
By the way going north from Miami you will find Vero Beach is about as far as you want to do in one hit up from the airport and it leaves a reasonable drive up to the mouse on the following day. ANother tip is to advance book an 'A' or 'B' class car to hire and then have a haggle for an upgrade once at the hire depot in Miami. We got a bleeding great Buick for a few $ more.

It is NOT a thingy! Thingies are bigger for a start and hard too. Soft or semi soft rubbery thingies are called whatsits and if very small but extremely usefull then they are dodads. Please straighten up and fly right
Mad Mike

I agree with Coddy about Cracker Barrel but Ponderosa does not come up to Dernny's standard for pancakes.
For sheer value though you can't beat those all you can eat for $7 chinese buffet retaurants. Wow talk about eat your self silly
And for the best Ice cream, well that's at the very first ice cream bar on the left as you walk into SeaWorld.
And for entertainment........ Go sit at the bar in a TGI Friday and watch the GEORGEOUS bar maids work the clients. Real live Cyotee Ugly right in front of you.
Ahhh Memories

Affectionally called "witches hats".
My witches hats had wide holes (fitted from the factory) that let in too much water. I had to seal them.
Bob F.
Did you use "magic" tape to seal it?
Coddy
No he was the one with the bad 'spell'-ing that Pete was talking about.

I don't know if you guys have seen the forcast for Saturday? It is forcast to be sunny all day with gentle breezes!

Anyone know how can I connect these 2 hoses of different sizes?
From the outboard to the fuel filter, and from the filter out is the larger hose, sod's law, sprouts at both of my tanks are of the smaller type.
Rang a couple of chandlers but they haven't got anything.
Generally Kam IMO chandlers are the last place to go. I view almost all of the Marine retail trade as rip off merchants. The prices charged are outrageous.
Right, rant over
Somewhere in your area will be a specialist stockist of small bore thread and pipe fittings. They usualy trade in the automotive and truck market. Use Yellow pages to find one.
Take the pipes and tanks etc with you and say "I want to join this to that, and it carries petrol". He will sort it out easily.
If you have a problem, there is a guy down here that I use.

What do we think about the weather for Sunday then??
Long range suggests at least F3, with hints of 4. Direction is SW. Not being a regular Weymouth visitor Im not too sure on what conditions the Shambles are fishable in? I would suggest no more than what is forecast at least?
Shall we have a straw poll...Ill then contact the eel man and sort out our bait.
Adam
Hi guysCan i go on the subs bench for crew in case of any late drop outs please ? Havent had a chance to get manatees o/b looked at since it played up at the 48hr comp
Les
Looking at these two postings , then the weather and knowing that we have a birthday bash at home the night before, I think I might be cowardly and back out.
I don't mind getting the 'Killer Looks' from the Dear Lady Wife if it's a warm and sunny days fishing but............
Forcast is for 13/15mph SW winds with torrential rain and bloody cold (14deg).
So may I please make a tactical withdrawal from the crew list.
Knowing 'sods law' Sundays weather will now be tropical calm!!

Divers!!!
who mentioned that word on our website
The sky probably has its fair share and more
Its dived by a lot of weymouth and Poole dive boats and RIBs from everywhere that have been launched at Swanage.
As for Club records?????
I hooked an SBS Diver off of Warbarrow during a night excercise, but did not stay on the upper deck long enough to see if it was a big one. so he probably would not count
By the time they came out of the water the tackle was stowed in the engine room for safe keeping, and I was watching TV in the crew room.
Charlie
Charlie, what a brilliant story
I would have loved to have been there as a spectator. I am still giggling every time I think of it. As they say "You wouldn't believe it if it were in a film".
Have you ever thought of writing these sort of memories down in story form? It may seem daft to you now but your kids kids and others will love them in fifty years time. I am being serious (for a change), as we (our society) change to a sms verbal/ electronic culture one on one story telling is disapearing. Our grandchildren will know less about us than we know about our grandparents.
Your story has charm, humour and is well told. Write it down and others too they might become the most valuable thing you leave behind you.

....but if you read the post I have a 4 stoke???!!
I know how oil works in a 2 stroke....but isnt a 4 stroke similar in many ways to a car?
Well bugger me I didn't see the bit about yours being a four stroke
That's a whole kettle of a differant worm
A very good question and one I admit to not knowing the answer to but.........
A cars engine has a pressurised water cooling system that works above the normal boiling point of water. Therefore the lubricant is designed to work within the temperature gradients apparant in a modern 4 stroke cars (pressureised cooling) system. However I think that your O/B will have a direct water cooling system and therefore work at under the boiling point of water. This being the case the specified O/B oil may be of a lower viscosity because it runs at lower temperature than automobile engines. Having said that there are some high spec low viscosity oils available for the motorist but I bet they cost more than the pukka O/B stuff.

What oil must I use in my OB??
I have a 1999 Mariner 50hp 4 stroke. I have been using the pukka Quicksilver jobbie, but was wondering if car engine oil can be used?
Not too bothered as uses very little - but have loads of car oil doing nowt in garage.
Aaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK maybe a bit over the top but.........
O/B oil is especialy formulated to burn yet lubricate at the running temperature of an O/B. In a pinch one can use ordinary two stroke oil for use in aircooled M/C engines which run just a bit hotter than O/B's . BUT car engine oil NEVER!!
Car engine oil lubricates in an entierly differant way. Firstly it is designed to be recycled by going through the engie via the filter many times. This means that it's burn temperature is much higher so if used in a two stroke it will not be fully burnt on the exhaust stroke of the pistons and a gooey residue will quickly build up. This residue will be quite harmfull to the engine in many ways.
