Paul J Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 i had my boat burgled 3 weeks ago in Christchurch Quay Sorry to hear this news, can you give us anymore details so other boat owners moored on the quay can be made aware cheers PJ Quote
Wedger Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Mine is near there. Me thinks I'll be taking it all off then Traking device fitted and alarm. Quote
great white Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Hi Joe Srry to hear of your problems You will probably find that the two units have to be set up with a service agent, I presume that you have called the suppliers of the replacement, if not they would be my first call and they may have a way to set them up. I had simular problems with my Volvo controls Also I would let them know of your theft and ask if there is a way to let all merc dealers know, in case the person who now has your unit has the same problem and has to get it matched to their engine. It may help catch the toerag that took it Good luck Charlie Quote
joefish Posted September 6, 2010 Author Report Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks for that Charlie, as regards more info on the theft PJ, my boat was moored on Broadwaters opposite the public slip at Christchurch. Boats there are moored bow on, the boat next to mine they pulled the bow line tight to the bank, and when the tide went out the stern dropped in to the mud, but stayed in the mud when the tide came in and sank. they forced entry into my cuddy and stole 2 abu 1 daiwa 1 penn reel and rods.there are 2 cameras on long poles on the christchurch bank but they face the wrong way. bournemouth water have very kindly offered me a trot mooring a bit further up the river which hopefully is more secure. The week before we ran aground near stanpit on an outgoing tide for 6 hours. the week before that we lost the anchor off hengistbury. not having much luck.lets hope thats it for now. we only bought the boat 3 months ago, still trying to catch my first bass. maybe next time. all the best. joe Quote
Jim Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 They say it comes in threes. Lets hope that's the end of it. Time for a run of good fortune now. Good luck. Jim Quote
charlieannear Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Give Mark Towersey a shout (Mark.outboardtech)- he should be able to advise. Quote
pirky Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Joe........I am on a swinger and I take most of my gear off the boat when I leave it. It is a fag and I have been tempted to leave stuff on board but hearing stories like yours has made me stick with it. I have often walked by the moorings over there at Xch and seen signs on the windows of cuddies saying "nothing left on board" etc.......obviously security has been a problem on the moorings. Hope you start to have better luck and get ur bass Dave Quote
Barney Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Joe I am moored a bit further up the river. There has been a few incidents this year of thefts. Last week an outboard was stolen of a tender on one of the pontoons, they came by boat. I was bow to the bank last year and luckerly i had no problems. I was advised not to leave anything on board and leave empty lockers unlocked to save them smashing the locks to have a look. Loading and unloading every trip is a bit of a pain but better than loosing gear. Hopefully thats all your bad luck out of the way Mick Quote
Paul J Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Joe, Was your anchor rigged to trip correctly ? eg: attached at the bottom and cable tied to the shaft? If not do a search for previous articles, if it's not there ask, there are no silly questions on here and those questions can save you lots of time and money PJ Quote
