tERRY,

I bought mine from L&J marine, but they now no longer do marine stuff and their franchise was taken over by South Coast Marine in Christchurch.

Had mine serviced there many times.

My friend here at Havant ( and indeed PJ ) bought there E-Tecs from PowerTech over on Hayling Island ( Thorney Marina I think ). They seem to give very competitive quotes.

i got my 60hp from South Coast Marine , 2006 model,

I went in looking for a 75hp, but was talked into a 60hp......i was told this was more than enough power for my boat......i now have a 15" prop and the engine put upto the second hole (done by myself). They fitted it with a standard 17" prop ......these are massive compared to other makes unsure.gif and engine put on the lowest hole... sad.gif

I can,t compare to a 75hp as i have not been on one.....but i would like to see the difference when hitting a bit of tide. mine used to nearly stop until i made the adjustments.

don't forget to allow servicing costs if comparing to a 4/ , this will be a BIG difference especially in the first 3 yrs, PM me if you want to know the exact price i paid

Thanks for that input chaps and for the pm Mike. I have emailed Powertech and await a reply. I hadn't considered a second hand one until you mentioned it, Gary, but it is worth pursuing.

Hi Terry

I have a e-tec 75 came with boat , warrior 165 . Just one point when choosing engine size , sometimes a larger engine will give you more fuel economy, that is why some 175's have a 130hp honda. Whichever one you choose I am sure you will be happy with it.

Sorry about that mistake Gary, I assumed you got it relatively recently.

Mike, my boat is a Warrior 165 and I believe 75hp is the max for it. But thanks for the advice.

The 75hp is 3 cylinder v's the 60hp which is 2 cylinder.

The 60 hp would cope but the 75 would be better.

I was lucky to get mine secondhand with 60 hours on it, a rare find at the time.

If you do find one be sure to get all the engine details up on a laptop and have them print or email the service history.

It tells you everything you need to know

Don't forget the Opti, if you want 2 stroke (cough cough, gag gag laugh.gif )- it's a cracker and the 75hp is great on my sister ship StarTurn!
