ChrisE
Well, I mean rays don't I? Trouble is I'm not quite sure where to start, I've caught quite a few other types of ray when general bottom fishing but haven't really much of a clue when it comes to the specifics. If some kind soul could give me a nudge (I'm not asking for your numbers, altho' a friendly pm never knowingly refused ) some idea of which banks are worth a hit would be great. Thanks Chris

mike02380
I snagged a nice blonde a few years ago but she is now a brunette! on a serious note I too would like to give it a go for blondes this year, i believe the banks are approx 8 miles south of the needles? there looks like a few banks on the charts over towards st catherines, I know the overfalls to the east of the island fish well for them. Graham Nash
The area I caught the blonde from was definately South East of Old Harry possibly between 3 & maybe 5 miles out. Could it be "The Spoils" then? I hear all these names but aint got a clue where they are!
ChrisE
Sounds like a plan. Looking at past reports it looks like worth a go from about March onwards. What does the team think?

This time of year you can pick up blondes, congers and spurdogs on the 9 miles banks. They are great fun on 10-20 class tackle, caught blondes out there upto 20lb and congers upto 45lb. Maverick Martin
The area I caught the blonde from was definately South East of Old Harry possibly between 3 & maybe 5 miles out. Could it be "The Spoils" then? I hear all these names but aint got a clue where they are! The banks you are talking about are known as the 50/50 banks and are where you said they are. Easily found and marked on charts/plotter These banks fish for loads of other species as well. On a good day they can be very good on a bad day there c@@p. Waters around the bank can be as deep as 75' with the depth on top being around 56' I believe Adam had his 30lb blonde on or near them. Graham Nash
Ha Ha ... mine was no where near 30lb. Thank you for clearing that up Martin.
