Graham Nash
I am looking out of my office window at flat calm and sunny conditions, just right for getting out on the boat and drowning some bait. As my boat/engine has just had a service and I am hoping to fit my new electronics over the next week or so so the boat is on its trailer at my place, I am getting itchy feet. I know the fishing is likely to be anywhere between slow to dead (but my fishing generally is anyway). I JUST WANNA GET OUT. I am considering towing the boat over to Kimmeridge and using the slip way there, or maybe to Castletown Beach at Portland. I am hoping to drop a hook over one of the many wrecks around Portland or The Shambles. I could motor out there, but I fancy giving it a go at towing her. Has anyone got any experience of either of those public slipways?
Rory
We launched from Kimmerdige in October & from what I remember.... A bit hilly getting there, so you'll need an appropriate motor (which you have !) Bit of an incline down to the slip, which is ok, but there are boulders/rocks either side so I wouldn't recommend a windy day ! Slip about 20-25ft wide or so Pretty quiet as well and I think it costs

Rob
The old - "dont use Kimmy in a SW blow \ swell" post. You may have just opened up old wounds!!! I have used Kimmy and it is excellent. Just ensure that a SW swell is not expected. Low tide can be an issue as there are rocks a plenty in and around the slip. Rob
Paul D
Onn Castletown slipway dont drive onto what looks like hard packed sand in a rear wheel drive car ..... I had a close escape last year and nearly watched my company car get submerged...... Slipway is OK apart from that - Alun J uses it a lot I believe.
