great white Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 been having a nose around on various sites This one should be worth a look a big wreck Quote
Adam F Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 There is now!! My main dilema is how balance out fish in the hold vs. wine and beer from France! Quote
Adam F Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) The wreck cant be that deep - the divers arent kitted out for anything much deeper than 40m. Edit: Just looked, a mate of mine has dived it - 40m to the wreck, 57m to the sea bed, sits 5 miles out of Cherbourg. Edited February 15, 2011 by Adam F Quote
Adam F Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Plenty of info here: http://www.harbourguides.com/harbours.php/Cherbourg/marinas Quote
Wight Magic Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Its not one i have fished there was not enough tackle hanging on it Dave Quote
great white Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 If your mate has dived a few out there has he a few recomendations about the ones to look at fishing. I am quite willing to spend time researching wrecks, but an idea of which ones would be nice. even better numbers, for known fishing wrecks. It looks like the route to Cherbourg takes in better wrecks than the route to Alderney. Charlie Quote
Newboy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I've fished couple of these channel trip, one to fecamp and one to cherbourg. The wrecks fish very well for pollocks, lings and BIG congers (over 100lb). If you go over at the end of summer, the breams are plate sized, most are in the 3-5lbs range. Quote
niggle Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Charlie.....100lb congers bagsy a crew space....pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee Quote
Rob Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Like CC will take crew again on a big conger hunt. TB nicked his record from under his nose a couple of years ago! Quote
