I recently went to the Wessex AT AGM held at Ringwood and following a bit of a discussion I managed to find their web site Wessex AT and found the following on the Fish of the Month for the Wessex Region for Juniors.

It seems our George Fox submitted a Mullet of 5lb 1/2oz in August last year, 2010 and came second being beaten by another Mullet of 5lb 3oz!

Well done George, shame it was not just that bit heavier but so close.

If we have any other juniors in the club who wish to submit a fish please get the form from me or on the web and lets get your name up in lights.

As a point of interest no fish were submitted in the following months last year:

February

March

April

June

October

November

December

So there is every chance of winning if just send your details in.

It's a real shame we dont have more juniors in the club.

From what I understand most are now seniors or like mine - too young to hold a rod!

The other issue we have always had in terms of attracting new juniors is the supervision, police check issues etc..

As it stands at the moment I'm not aware of any active juniors in our club?? Can anyone prove me wrong??

Sam Annear out caught me with on mackerel The other summer! So I guess if Charlie has Family membership, he is one!

My son Ben is still a junior [15] but rarely puts in a show !!

Shame... I have tried to encourage him on boat, river, lake and fly-fishing, and he has all his own gear......just not got the call yet ! ! weep.gif

I'll be bringing a new very small but equally capable angler into the fold shortly, just need the days to warm up a bit, and the seas to flatten off before he wets his line for the first time. And at the tender age of five, he has a few years of junior angling in him yet! As for me, I guess I'll be joing the ranks of the geriatrics!

Out of interest what does Junior membership cost?

Or, if I had family membership, would it cover my Grandson?

Yep, I have family membership and Sam is recorded by name in the club books.

He's 6 now (7 in July) and I reckon will now be OK to spend a whole day on the boat without driving us (or us him) round the bend. I've been nervous of being too pushy and putting him off so far!

Will be adding Dom's name to the list at the AGM! smile.gif
